Ask James Harden what his greatest strength on the basketball court is and
his answer might be a surprise coming from someone who averaged 20.1 points
last season at Arizona State.

He doesn't mention his scoring average or that he made 50.6 percent of his
shots in two seasons. But what Harden's known for is scoring. Nevertheless,
as Harden begins his tour of team workouts, the 2008-09 Pacific-10 Conference
Player of the Year is out to prove he's not a one-dimensional player.

Harden (6-foot-5, 218 pounds), who might be the draft's top shooting guard,
worked out for the Kings on Wednesday even though he was sick last week,
which has sapped his legs.

Afterward, arguably the best shooting guard in college basketball last season
touted himself as a multi-positional player.
"I'm a basketball player," Harden said. "I think the GMs and the coaches know
I don't have one set position. They know I can score the ball. They know I
can handle the ball as well. I don't have a set position."

Harden also has workouts scheduled with the Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City

shooting guard after drafting Russell Westbrook to play point guard last
year. The Wizards have Gilbert Arenas to run the team, but he missed most of
last season with a knee injury. Memphis drafted O.J. Mayo last year after
drafting point guard Mike Conley in 2007. The Kings have Kevin Martin at
shooting guard, so Harden would have to show he could run a team in addition
to scoring to fit in with Sacramento.

Harden said he sometimes initiated the Arizona State offense to take pressure
off the point guards. He admits doing that in the NBA would be different, but
feels the teams he's working out for could use him.
"I'm not working out for teams I can't go in and have a chance of playing
(for)," said Harden, who averaged 5.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in his two
seasons with the Sun Devils. "I'm working out for teams who fit me well and
who I feel will be in the best position to use me."

Harden also believes he can play small forward. He understands he might not
start as a rookie but believes his versatility makes him an asset.

playing defense," Harden said. "Or just doing whatever the team needs me to
