Kings notes: Team explores deal for 76ers' Dalembert

An ESPN report Tuesday morning said the Kings are involved in talks for a
three-team deal with Philadelphia and Boston that would include sending Kenny
Thomas to the 76ers and bringing center Samuel Dalembert to Sacramento.

And while a league source confirmed the Kings and Philadelphia have discussed
a deal involving Thomas and Dalembert, the deal appears to be dead for the
foreseeable future largely because of the Kings' lukewarm interest in the
eighth-year veteran, who has two years and a combined $24.9 million left on
his contract.

Dalembert's agent, who is clearly on the lookout for a better situation for
his client, said Tuesday that his client would be a good fit for the Kings.

"I think it would be a good fit if he was here," said Cornstein, who also
represents Kings point guard Beno Udrih and was in Sacramento on Tuesday. "He

shots, he can rebound. Those are his strengths. Those are the things he
brings, and I think the skill set that he brings are things that the Kings
can use. If he were to get here, I think he'd be a very good fit."

forward Andres Nocioni, as was reported by ESPN.

Free food – Colleen Maloof's idea for a free holiday buffet caused a traffic
jam – er, a people jam – outside Arco Arena before the doors even opened
for the game against the Chicago Bulls.

Once inside the building, everyone was entitled to a well-rounded meal
featuring assorted salads, vegetables, rice, pasta and prime rib at one of
three buffet tables. The line wrapped around the interior of the top
concourse for more than an hour before tipoff, with several hundred fans
still waiting as the national anthem played.

A Kings spokesman said everyone in line when the game started was served,
estimating that 1,084 fans were served.

"When I walked outside about an hour before the game, it looked like it was
the Western Conference finals," Kings co-owner Gavin Maloof quipped. "People
were crowding to get in. I couldn't believe how many people there were. But,
hey, we'll try anything.

"My Mom came up with the idea from the University of New Mexico, and she said
we should give something back. At the end of the day we'll evaluate it. Maybe
we'll do it again."
