Omri Casspi, having just completed his rookie season in the NBA, can look
forward to telling some stories of his own. Once upon a time it was he and
his Maccabi Tel Aviv teammates who were listening to Anthony Parker talk
about the big time.

卡卡剛結束他的新秀球季，看來他有許多事可以和大家聊聊，遙想從前他只能和他在
Maccabi Tel Aviv的隊友坐在一旁聽Anthony Parker聊最高殿堂比賽。

Parker once discussed how in his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers he
didn't play for two months and heard from reporters that he had been injured,
even though he was healthy. So he spoke to the front office and got
unsatisfactory answers.

Parker說他菜鳥球季在七六人隊還不到兩個月就由媒體知道自己受傷的消息，當時他明
明就很健康，當他去找球團高層詢問時卻得到令人不滿意的答案。

In the case of Parker, currently a starter for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are
galloping toward a championship, he was a marginal bench player at the time,
while Casspi impressed the American sports scene with his breakout debut.

Parker目前騎士隊在打球，球隊正向總冠軍發起衝擊，曾是球隊雞肋的他如今是隊上的
先發主力，同時卡卡的初登場表現也讓美國運動界留下深刻的印象。

Within four months the Sacramento rookie, coming off a ravaging summer
league, took the window of opportunity presented to him with injuries to
Francisco Garcia and Kevin Martin. In that span, he went from being an
anonymous 23rd pick of the draft - anonymous in the United States, that is -
to a member of the all-rookie team at the NBA All-Star Game. He was the first
off the bench for the Kings.

卡卡夏季聯賽的表現並不理想，但馬丁和老賈受傷讓他上場時間大幅增加，在這四個月
內卡卡由一個默默無名的第二十三順位球員晉升為明星週新秀隊的先發，而他一度也是
國王隊替補的首選。

But when Casspi returned from All-Star Week, his minutes dropped off
significantly. Coach Paul Westphal spoke of a rookie barrier; he said Casspi
looked "worn down." But the Israeli, who was practicing as usual and didn't
feel particularly tired, didn't accept the explanation. Nor did his teammates
seem to.

但當明星週過後，卡卡的上場時間大幅縮水，教練西法說這是因為卡卡撞上新秀牆的緣
故，他說卡卡看起來「累壞了」，但卡卡並不接受這樣的說法，他一樣照常練習，並不
覺得特別累，而隊友也這麼認為。

"The way they treated Omri Casspi began to change precisely with his first
place selection on ESPN's weekly parade," says Sam Amick, a former writer for
the Sacramento Bee who is now the head basketball writer for
nba.fanhouse.com. "No one around the team understood why Westphal wasn't
playing Casspi. The Kings' explanation sounded like an excuse."

前蜂報記者現任Fanhouse頭號記者說：「當卡卡第一次登上ESPN每週重點介紹後，國王
開始特別重視卡卡，但沒人知道為甚麼西法不讓卡卡上場，國王的解釋聽起來只是個藉
口。」

And so Casspi became a sideshow, despite his impressive contribution (see
chart). Meanwhile, the Kings got rid of Martin in February and focused on
Evans, who was trying to achieve a 20-5-5 as a rookie (20 ppg, five rpg and
five apg).

儘管卡卡為球隊貢獻甚多，但他頓時成為球場上的龍套腳色，同時國王把馬丁送走，全

A symbol of the situation came last week against Houston. Evans was standing
on the line trying to make two free throws that would give him the
achievement only accomplished by LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Oscar
Robertson. Casspi moved toward center court with his head held down
despondently, while Martin - who had been dealt to Houston - looked
contemplative as if he were completely somewhere else.

"Westphal not only cut down his minutes but sent Casspi conflicting messages
that just confused him," says a close associate of the Israeli. "He told the
papers he wasn't satisfied that any of his candidates for small forward
[Casspi, Donte Green and Andres Nocioni)]had secured their place for next
season, but he told Casspi he was building on him.

一位和卡卡關係甚密的助理教練說：「西法不只縮減卡卡的時間，同時傳遞給卡卡矛盾
的訊息也困擾著他，他跟媒體說他對於他他的小前鋒人選都不滿意，將會到下季才會確

"Within the final two months of the season, Casspi went from the Kings' small
forward of the future to a question mark," says the basketball reporter.

「本季的最後兩個月卡卡不再是國王未來小前鋒的確定人選。」一位籃球記者這樣說道。

If that's the case, Casspi shouldn't take it hard. His agent has received
around seven offers from other NBA teams this season who are ready to make a
deal with Sacramento. The forward also hinted to the press: "I'm ready for a
bigger team."

如果真的是這樣，卡卡也不用太在意，他的經紀人已經接到其他七家NBA球團想要和國
王交易卡卡的消息，卡卡本人也表示：「我已經準備好為一隻更大的球隊打球。」
