HOUSTON – Donté Greene knows the final 18 games of this season are of
supreme importance.
Such is life for a fourth-year player at the end of his rookie contract with
no assurances he will be re-signed following this season.
綠綠知道剩下的18場比賽非常重要。
在新秀合約的最後一年，這位四年級生並沒有被保證會在季後重簽合約。
Greene's approach to the rest of the season is simple.
"Just play, really," he said. "Go out and work hard before the games or in
practice time and just try to be ready. It's a contract year for me; it's a
big last (18) games of the season so (I'll) just try to work hard."
綠綠對接下來的比賽的對策很簡單。
「就是去打，真的，在賽前或是在練習時間上去然後努力表現，還有隨時準備好，
今年是我的合約年；接下來的比賽很重要，所以我會努力表現。」綠綠說。
Greene has shown reasons for the Kings to keep him, but the team needs to see
more commitment by Greene to being a player who can contribute consistently
if they are to commit to him long term.
Kings coach Keith Smart describes Greene's skills as "intriguing."
"I shared with him that 'You've got to get to the point, with your size,
(playoff) contenders are knocking down our door saying give us this guy;
that's where your game has to grow to,' " Smart said.
綠綠已經展現國王續簽他的理由，但是隊上想要看到他能夠有穩定貢獻，如果他們給了他
一張長約。
國王總教練聰明哥形容綠綠的技術是「耐人尋味」。
「我對他說：『你要用你的身高去移動到那個位置，跟我們搶季後賽門票的隊伍敲我們的
門說給我們這傢伙；這是你在比賽中的成長。』」
So, if the Kings haven't seen the best of Greene, they will have to decide
how long to wait, and how much to invest, to see if he becomes a consistent
contributor.
"The potential for a guy that size (6-foot-11, 226 pounds) that can play on
the perimeter, shooting guard, small forwards, power forwards and still be
able to function when you put him at power forward, is a commodity," Smart
said. "And he has to understand what he can do in the NBA and what he can do
for a team."
所以，如果國王沒有看到綠綠最好的一面，他們就必須要決定要等多久，要花多少錢，
來看綠綠是否能成長成一個穩定的球員。
「他有潛力可以同時打SG、SF、PF，而且在叫他打PF時，他還能保有活動力。
他必須要知道他能在NBA做什麼以及能為隊上做什麼。」聰明哥說。
The knock on Greene has been he is too focused on offense.
And rather than attack the rim with his size and athleticism, Greene prefers
to shoot three-pointers.
Smart doesn't want to eliminate perimeter shooting from Greene's game but has
encouraged him to drive more.
"Try to take my open shots, but at the end of the day drive the ball," Greene
said. "Try to get to the free-throw line, get in the paint and create for my
teammates."
綠綠有個問題是他太專注於進攻。
而且與其利用他的身高及體能去打禁區，他寧可去投三分。
聰明哥不會去阻止他的三分，但是也鼓勵他做更多。
「試著帶出空檔，但是在最後持球(?)；試著站上罰球線；試著進入禁區，
然後為隊友創造空檔。」綠綠說。
The Kings want to see Greene excel defensively.
Former Kings assistant coach and noted NBA defender Mario Elie would often
say Greene could last more than a decade in the NBA just as a defender.
國王希望看到綠綠擅長防守。
前國王助理教練及前NBA後衛Mario Elie說綠綠可以靠防守在NBA打滾超過10年。
Greene has impressed one new teammate with his defensive effort this season.
"Donté is an underrated defender in this league," said Kings forward Chuck
Hayes. "And it's unfortunate he's not been able to get the credibility he
deserves. And to be honest, I didn't know he was this good of a defender when
I was in Houston. Being his teammate, this guy really knows his opponent."
綠綠讓他的一位新隊友對他的防守有印象。
海爺說：「綠綠是一個被低估的防守者，但是很不幸的他沒有獲得相應的名聲。
說實話，我在火箭的時候不知道他的防守這麼好。做為他的隊友，他很了解他的對手。」
Greene is averaging 14.9 minutes, the lowest since his rookie season, so he
has to make the most of his chances.
And it's not easy for Greene, because of his perimeter skills, to go from
starting against the likes of Dallas All-Star Dirk Nowitzki to barely playing
against a more traditional power forward.
綠綠本季平均上場14.9分鐘，自從新秀年以來最低，所以他必須抓住他的機會。
但這並不容易，因為他的外線能力，他在對上德佬之類的球員才先發。
Regardless of the matchup, Greene knows he has to make maximize the
opportunity.
"I'm just working with the coaching staff, watching film and using my
God-gifted abilities," Greene said. "I was blessed to have this height and
athleticism, be able to move my feet, guard guys. I've just got to take
advantage."
不管對手是誰，綠綠知道他要把他的機會最大化。
「我只是跟著教練團一起努力，看影片，然後利用我的天分。我對於我能有這樣的
身高跟體能非常感激，在對上後衛的時候，我有著優勢。」
