Rashard Lewis will test the free agent waters this summer and like any top
available player with an eye toward a huge payday, he isn't about to rule out
the Knicks.

"Right now I'm going to be open to any situation," Lewis said yesterday. "I
just want to see, get feedback from other teams.

"I want to see what team is really pursuing me or what team is just taking a
shot at it because they know they have the opportunity."

The Sonics are confident they can re-sign the 6-10 small forward. The Knicks'
only chance of landing Lewis is to convince Seattle to move him in a
sign-and-trade. The Knicks could offer a package including Seattle product
Jamal Crawford.

"Rashard is vital to the team," said Seattle coach Bob Hill. "If the Sonics
can't sign Rashard they should just start over."

Lewis said that the idea of playing in the league's biggest market appeals to
him.

"I'm a good player, but publicity-wise, I'm not out there as much," he said.
"I think being in a big market will help me be out there off the court as
well as on the court."
