[外電] BIG 3? BIG DEAL

More like No Big Deal, if you ask Quentin Richardson. Apparently forgetting
the Knicks are 4-9 and staring up at Boston in the Eastern Conference
standings, Richardson openly mocked the Celtics and their heavily hyped trio
of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce yesterday.

  阿Q昨天嘲笑超塞隊的G.A.P連線。

Richardson's words are sure to add some spice to what already was likely to
be a bare-knuckled matchup between the two longtime rivals on national TV
tonight at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden.

  阿Q讓今天兩個世仇間的交手多了一點火藥味。

“It's not that big a deal to us," Richardson said of facing the 11-2
Celtics. “It's like the media makes more of The Big Three and all of them.
We're not in awe of them. They ain't won no championships. They have a good
record right now, but that don't matter. Dallas showed that [last season]."

  這不是啥大問題，一切都是媒體的吵作。他們又還沒拿下總冠軍，現在的戰績不能代
表啥，看看去年的小牛。

Richardson was referring to the Mavericks' first-round flameout against the
Warriors after winning a league-best 67 games in the regular season. The
Knicks' veteran small forward seems to think the Celtics could be capable of
a similar nosedive this year based on their thin lineup beyond Garnett, Allen
and Pierce.

  去年小牛的慘劇，阿Q認為今年超塞隊也會上演。

“They're not that deep of a team," Richardson said. “After those three,
there's a significant dropoff."

　板凳太薄弱，除了那三隻外。

Knicks president/coach Isiah Thomas didn't disagree with Richardson's
assessment of the Celtics, though Thomas wore a grin the whole time.

  老湯並沒有否定阿Ｑ的看法，他總是咧嘴笑著。
　　
“The Celtics have always had a lack of depth," he said, recalling his days
with Boston arch-rival Detroit in the 1980s. “I remember when [the Pistons]
were coming up, you had to beat [Robert] Parrish, [Kevin] McHale, [Larry]
Bird and those guys. You always said, ‘Boy, if we could ever get to Greg
Kite, we'll be OK.' But we never managed to get to Greg Kite. We always saw
those three guys."

  超塞隊的板凳深度總是他們的死穴。之前跟他們交手的時候，我們只要看好那三
隻:酋長、麥海爾、大鳥。

But Richardson, whose rebounding and defense were key factors in the two-game
winning streak the Knicks will carry into Boston, wasn't smiling when he laid
into the Celtics.

  阿Q是這波二連勝的鑰匙男，面對超塞隊，可能笑不太出來。

That's because the rivalry is somewhat personal for Richardson, who jawed
with Pierce during an altercation-filled preseason victory by the Knicks at
the Garden last month just days after a 40-point Celtics rout in Boston.

  上次熱身賽的交手充滿口水。被超塞隊狂電40分後的幾天，尼克在主場扳回顏面。

Maybe the memories of that are why Richardson didn't appear too worried about
firing up the Celtics with his bulletin board comments.

  超塞隊可能不會被阿Q的話激怒。

“They were going to be fired up to play us anyway because the last time we
played them, we beat them in the preseason in a game," Richardson said.

  他們可能會想起上次在熱身賽被我們擊敗的情形。

“I think they wanted to win because they played their guys a lot of
minutes," he said, referring to The Big Three all playing the game's final
nine minutes.

  他們是很想贏球的，最後的九分鐘，三巨頭都一直待在場上。

A re-heated rivalry with Boston would be a good thing, as far as Thomas is
concerned. He said he was disappointed along with the rest of the league to
see the Knicks-Celtics feud dimmed this decade by the struggles of both
clubs.

  對決重新被炒熱可能是件好事。過去的十年，這兩隊都過得不太妙。

Thomas also remains a tried-and-true Celtics hater - he said yesterday that
he has no green garments in his entire wardrobe - and wants Boston to give
him a reason to renew that bad blood.

  老湯討厭綠色，他不穿綠色的衣服。

“With me personally, it's always a rivalry against the Celtics," Thomas
said. “That's ingrained in me. I think we need to build up a little history
with this team."

  這是一場硬戰，我們需要打點成績出來。
