The KnicksNew York Knicks  announced before practice today that they were
cutting Allan Houston.

Houston signed a non-guaranteed contract with the team, but his chances of
making the squad were hampered by a quad strain that sidelined him throughout
the preseason. Houston is expected to join the front office in a scouting
capacity. Dan Grunfeld, son of former Knicks player and general manager, was
also cut by the team. Grunfeld played three minutes in one preseason game.

This is the second straight season that Houston has attempted a comeback with
the Knicks, and the second straight time that it ended in vain. Houston
played with the Knicks from 1996-2004.
