The diminutive Knicks guard went hard in practice Friday, pushing himself to make sure he felt good enough to make his return from a strained groin. He's missed seven of the last eight games, including the last three. But that should change Saturday when the Knicks play the Kings in Sacramento, the first of a three-game West Coast trip that includes matchups against the Suns and Lakers on consecutive nights. Robinson hasn't had any setbacks and declared himself healthy enough to get back in the lineup. He has maintained he didn't want to hurt the team by playing if he wasn't 100 percent, and he has been cautious not to overdo it. "You've always got to be careful, but I know my body and I know I'm that ready," Robinson said. "So I wouldn't even think twice about it." After missing four straight games, Robinson played 13 minutes in a Dec. 5 loss to the Hawks before his groin tightened up on him at the half and he couldn't loosen it up. He's been sidelined since, although his mouth always was perfectly healthy. "At halftime, he's talking as much as anyone in the locker room," said David Lee, who's likely to play despite a bruised back. "He's constantly trying to get guys to continue to play hard, to continue to do the right things. You would think that he was playing in the game with the amount he's talking. He's a guy that constantly brings energy for us. He never changes his approach. That's what makes him who he is. That's what makes him a special player." Chris Duhon might be happier than anyone to see Robinson back in the fold. With Robinson out, he's logged 40-plus minutes six times. "Aw, man, he's been killing me, joking around," Robinson said, "saying when I come back, he ain't gonna play." Coach Mike D'Antoni wanted to make sure Robinson was pain-free before he used him again. "The thing that he does is he gives you about three players in the sense that he can back Duhon up, he can be a two- guard, and he puts everybody back in their positions, more or less," D'Antoni said. "He's going to play about 30, 35 minutes. So instead of everybody playing 40, now they are down to about 35 or 32 where they should be. So he helps everything and it will be great having him back."
