另外MARBURY也要進行買斷事宜
Stephon Marbury and Mike D’Antoni will face off in a Manhattan law office on
Tuesday, as an arbitrator considers Marbury’s grievance against the Knicks.
Marbury is trying to reclaim about $400,000 in pay that was forfeited when
the team suspended him in late November, for allegedly refusing to play a
game against Detroit. Marbury has acknowledged telling D’Antoni that he did
not want to play, but claims he did not refuse outright. The Knicks exiled
Marbury from the team shortly after the incident. The arbitrator is expected
to take 30 to 45 days to decide the matter. The hearing has no direct bearing
on the stalled buyout negotiations between Marbury and the team president
Donnie Walsh. Marbury needs to gain his release by March 1 in order to be
eligible to play in the postseason for another team. Walsh would not set the
odds for reaching an agreement by March 1. But he acknowledged that the
franchise is also mindful that Marbury could end up with a potential playoff
opponent, namely Boston. “It’s all part of the general picture,” Walsh
said. “Because it could impact on you. There’s a competitiveness issue.” D
’Antoni will be forced to miss practice to attend the hearing. ... The
Knicks worked out a half-dozen free agents Monday, including Cheikh Samb and
Quincy Douby, and will probably sign one player to a 10-day contract. The
Knicks cleared two roster spots with last week’s trades.
