[外電] Knicks pick up Toney Douglas' option

The Knicks confirmed on Wednesday that they have picked up Toney Douglas' 
fourth-year team option, keeping him under contract through 2012-13. 

Today was the NBA deadline for options and extensions on player contracts.

According to HoopsHype, next season Douglas will make $2.1 million, and now
with the option he's eligible for a qualifying offer in 2013-14.

Since the start of the season, a lot of high expectations have been placed on
Douglas, from the Knicks' new starting point guard to their sixth man. Of
course, the first was a bit unfair because Douglas' makeup is more of a combo
guard coming off the bench (like a poor man's Jason Terry). But through his
transition to the second unit as a scoring spark, he hasn't yet regained his
form from last season. His numbers are down across the board.

Perhaps Douglas' right shoulder is still bothering him after he tweaked it
earlier in the season. He hasn't mentioned it's been an issue, but his
3-point shooting is down from 37.3 percent in 2010-11, during which he led
the league in threes made after the All-Star break, to 23.5 percent this
season. Whatever the case, Douglas looked better in his last two outings,
averaging 10 points. Overall at his price, it was a reasonable pickup.
