Raymond Felton again to point way for Knicks

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- After the Knicks' first practice of the season, Mike
Woodson basically named Raymond Felton the starting point guard Tuesday. That
doesn't mean Jason Kidd won't finish games.
在經過第一天的訓練後，武僧基本上認定肥頓將會成為先發，不過這並不代表關鍵時刻
，老基不會上場。
Who closes still has to be worked out, but Woodson loved hearing that Felton
said he has a big chip on his shoulder heading into this season.
"I think it's great," Woodson said. "I think it's fantastic, not only for
him, but our ballclub and the fans here in New York. It's important that he
comes in with a chip on his shoulder. We're going to need him to play at a
high level."

Felton was successful in that role with the Knicks the first 54 games of the
2010-11 season, averaging 17.1 points and 9.0 assists before being sent to
Denver in the Carmelo Anthony trade. Felton is looking forward to reprising
his role, and erasing what happened last season.
" just [want] to come back and prove I'm the same point guard from before,
before the Portland year," Felton said. "I'm happy to be back here.
Everything is a business. There was no hard feelings when I left here, when
we got traded. I had a good talk with Mr. [James] Dolan before I signed back
here. I told him I always wanted to come back here. Just to get that
opportunity, I was excited."
肥頓在尼克的54場比賽，打出了場均17.1分9助攻，之後因瓜瓜交易而去了丹佛，肥頓
希望他可以重現他當初的榮景，肥頓說:"我只是想回到這裡，然後重新證明我還是10年

Kidd, a former Net, also is excited to be playing in the area again. And
despite starting for most of his 18-year career, Kidd, 39, accepts he won't
be fighting for a starting job.
"There's no competition," Kidd said. "Ray is the way Coach is going. My job
is to win ballgames and help my teammates and make it as easy as possible.
Ray can run the show as well as anybody. For me, it's to support Ray and help
him with things I see and when I go in to get the lead or keep the lead.
That's as easy as it can be."

Kidd said he's in the best shape he's been "in probably five years," and can
play heavy minutes if needed. His leadership and ability to defend perimeter
players are expected to have him on the floor at the end of games. Felton
said he's fine if that happens.
"Whatever Coach decides to do," Felton said. "I'm all about winning. It's
whatever it takes. I'm not going to get mad, get upset. I'm excited about the
season. I'm excited about this team."

Knicks add Dunn, Thompson to coaching staff
尼克又加了兩個新助理教練
Mike Woodson has added two assistant coaches, former Penn State head coach,
Jerry Dunn, and LaSalle Thompson.
In addition, the Knicks will use Chris Ford as a coaching consultant, as he
was at Tuesday’s first day of practice. They have also hired shooting coach,
Dave Hopla.
武僧加了兩個新助理教練到團隊，Jerry Dunn跟LaSalle Thompson，另外尼克還會用
Chris Ford當教練顧問，在加上之前尼克已經請的新投籃教練Dave Hopla。
Dunn was 117-121 in eight years at Penn State, resigning in 2003. He most
recently was the associate head coach at Michigan from 2007-'09. Thompson had
a 15-year career in the NBA and played with Woodson in Sacramento.The Knicks
didn't formally announce any of the moves. Dunn and Thompson replace Kenny
Atkinson, who quit to join the Hawks staff.

Rasheed Wallace hasn't signed a contract yet, but he's in their facility.

Woodson, at least on this first day, opted for one three-hour-long midday
practice, with media only catching the last few minutes of drills, stretches,
and a rookie-led rendition of "Happy Birthday" for Tyson Chandler.

The Knicks are still waiting on Rasheed Wallace, but it's not clear why. He's
in New York but didn't practice or show his face to media today. Everyone
says he's still sorting out contract stuff. Since the Knicks only have a
veteran's minimum contract left to offer, I'm not sure what needs sorting
out. One wonders, then, why Wallace's signing would be delayed ...

When asked, Mike Woodson pegged Raymond Felton as his starting point guard to
open the season. The shooting guard position remains the primary point of
uncertainty with Iman Shumpert hurt and Ronnie Brewer out a few more weeks.
While the starting spot is probably a toss-up between Brewer and J.R. Smith,
James White was the one running drills with the first unit today (at least
while media were present), and both Felton and Jason Kidd sounded
enthusiastic about playing in a backcourt together with Kidd at shooting
guard. Kidd noted that he'd done some of that alongside J.J. Barea in Dallas.

Kurt Thomas around for frontcourt defensive support. He sounded pleased to
not be the only defensive big on the roster anymore and also suggested that
having replaced younger players with veterans will help the team with
stability.
