Knicks to Televise Training Camp

They begin actual games Oct 11 versus the Wizards.

Knicks' Kurt Thomas still ticking

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — The Knicks’ players gathered in a circle at the end of
practice Thursday and a handful of the younger players on the team sang
"Happy Birthday" to Kurt Thomas, an event that you might think Thomas would
rather go unnoticed.


在禮拜四的訓練營結束後，尼克的球員們唱起了"Happy Birthday!"，原來今天


是KT的生日~!，這是一個你可能會忽略的事件。


He turned 40 years old, he is the oldest player in the NBA — one day older
than Grant Hill. Yet until the practice was brought to an end and the song
was sung, he was running with the rest of the Knicks — albeit the league’s
oldest group — through a practice session that ran more than three hours.


KT他已經40歲了!他現在全聯盟最老的球員，唯一一個比HILL還老的球員，在這歌聲之前


，他已經跟著其他尼克的成員一起訓練了3個多小時，而尼克則是現今最老的球隊。


"I feel the same as yesterday," Thomas said. "No difference. I was just out
there having fun, running up and down the floor with my teammates, just
trying to get in better shape each and every day.


KT說:"我感覺我還是跟昨天一樣，沒有任何不同，我就只是跟著我隊友一起出去玩，


一起上場訓練，就只是為了讓狀態更好，每一天都在努力的訓練。"


"I don’t think about it. I just go out there and play. I feel my game hasn’
t changed in 10, 12 years. If you think I’m old, that’s fine. But when you
get out there on the floor I don’t think you’d see that."


我沒有去想我的年紀，我只是去到那裏然後上場，我感覺我的比賽已經10-12年沒改變了，

While he is the oldest player in the league, he’s got a lot of company near
the top of the list on his own squad. Jason Kidd is 39 and Rasheed Wallace
and Marcus Camby are 38, giving the Knicks four of the six oldest players in
the league.
But there were no complaints from Thomas about the arduous schedule of the
early days of training camp. He did what he has done most of his career,
aggressively defended and rebounded, finding his way to an open spot
occasionally for a jump shot.


雖然KT是聯盟中最老的球員，但是在尼克的陣容中，也有跟他接近的，有老基(39)，西蛙(38)


CAMBY(38)，尼克陣容中有現今聯盟最老的六名球員中的四位，雖然KT在該開始的訓練營中


有些困難，但是他沒有抱怨，他持續在做他生涯中常做的事，積極的防守跟抓籃板，並且


去跑出空檔來投中距離。


"It’s nice to see," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. "J-Kidd’s the same way.
They’re older guys, but I’ve got to be a little more privy to how I push
them in terms of practice. But for the most part they’ve been hanging in
there, doing everything I’ve asked them to do. It’s kind of nice to see."

The coaches know him well, not only from his work as an opponent, but also as
a teammate. Herb Williams, the 54-year-old assistant coach, played in the
same Knicks frontcourt as Thomas in 1998-99, Williams’ final year in the
league.

But Thomas might have been a long shot to even outlast Williams — having
broken his ankle twice in his second season in the league. Still, he remains,
never a star, just a solid veteran.


教練知道KT很棒，不只是從他的訓練來看，同時也是個隊友，Herb Williams，54歲的助理教練


他曾經跟KT在1998-1999是尼克同胞，而那時是Herb的最後一年，KT曾有段時間沒跟

"I never thought I’d play at 40," he said. "I used to tell Herb Williams
when we were playing together back in the day that I couldn’t believe he was
playing at 40. Now, look, I’m playing at 40 years old. Like I say, I still
enjoy playing. I still enjoy competing out there every day and I’m having
fun every day.


KT:"我從來沒想過我會打到40歲，我經常跟Herb Williams說當我們在一起打球時，

"I never think about retiring, until no one wants my services anymore, then I
’ll start thinking about that. But until then I’m always focusing on the
next season. I might have lost half a step, but not a full step. I definitely
feel good out there. I feel like I can do everything that all the other guys
are doing out there on the floor. I’m just trying to get in better shape
each and every day."

“They're older guys, and I got to be a little more [careful] how I push them
in terms of practice,” Woodson said.
