Rookie Shurna takes his shot at MSG dream

菜鳥蘇娜(應該要叫蘇爾納的，John Shurna不然叫強叔好像也不錯>.^ )正在追求MSG夢
John Shurna is frequently compared to Steve Novak because of his height,
shooting prowess and appearance.
At one point during Knicks practice yesterday, in fact, the two marksmen
basically matched one another shot for shot at each end of the practice
facility.
蘇娜常常被拿來跟腰帶王比較，因為他的身高，投籃本領，樣子都跟腰帶王很像，昨天
記者們有個重大發現，就是這兩個射手會做相同的事，他們會不斷的在球場的每一端投籃。
Yet Knicks head coach Mike Woodson has been more impressed with the
all-around game of Shurna — the former Northwestern star — than merely his
long-distance accuracy.
“I just like his makeup,” Woodson said. “He can make shots, that’s what
he does, but he’s a basketball player. He can put the ball down, he rebounds
for his position, I like him so far.”
武僧說她對於蘇娜的表現有很深的印象，不僅僅是他那遠射的準確度，"我很喜歡她的氣質
，他可以投籃，那是他能做的，但是他是個籃球選手，他可以無球跑動，他可以抓籃板，
我真的很喜歡他阿!!"
The 6-foot-9 Shurna takes particular pride in doing the little things. He
brings energy and hustle, Woodson said, attributes all teams need.
Shooting, of course, is still Shurna’s calling card. He shot 44 percent from
3-point range last year for Northwestern while averaging a conference-high 20
points per game — and 3-point shooting is a Knicks weakness.
6"9的蘇娜還有一個特別得意的地方，就是它帶來了激情跟拚勁，武僧說:"這種態度就是
每個球隊都需要的。"
投籃，當然是蘇娜的招牌技能，他大學時去年三分命中率高達44%，而三分球則是尼克這支
隊伍的弱點。(尼克去年三分命中率排全聯盟21名...沒記錯的話)
After going undrafted, Shurna played with the Hawks in the NBA Summer League
in Las Vegas and signed a partially guaranteed, one-year contract with the
Knicks in early September.
Assuming recently signed power forward Rasheed Wallace makes the team, Shurna
is one of five players competing for the 15th roster spot on the club. The
group includes rookies Chris Smith (the younger brother of shooting guard
J.R. Smith), Henry Sims and Oscar Bellfield, overseas veteran Chris Copeland
and second-year pro Mychel Thompson.
蘇娜今年選秀落選了，之後被邀請去老鷹的夏季聯盟打球，然後尼克跟他簽了非保證約，
如果尼克的那兩個保證約空缺一個要給西蛙的話，那麼蘇娜將是那六個競爭最後一個
名額的人之一，競爭對手有JR弟(PG)，模擬人生(Henry Sims (PF/C))，奧斯卡(PG)，
靠譜蘭(Chris Copeland(SF/PF))，跟MT(SG)。
“My main goal is just to go in and play as hard as I can each day, that’s
all you can do,” Shurna said. “Try and compete, try and win in every form
of competition out on the court, and at the same time listen to all these
guys. You can take in a lot.”
Shurna said he is more focused on improving on a daily basis than concerned
with where he stands among the other hopefuls. He has made a point of putting
in extra time shooting after practice, frequently one of the last players to
leave the facility.

蘇娜說他更專注於在每天的基本訓練中加強自己，而不是去擔心她是否可以贏過其他人，
蘇娜每次都是最後一個離開訓練場的人，因為她每次訓練完都會再額外的回來練習投籃。
(不知道他今天有沒有跟阿罵一樣也被武僧喊:"Get out of here."XDDD)
“There’s always room for improvement,” he said. “I always want to get
better.”
Shurna has played at Madison Square Garden before, twice during his junior
year at Northwestern in the Holiday Festival. Because of the Garden’s
renovation, the Knicks don’t have any preseason contests there, so Shurna
would have to make the team for a return to the World’s Most Famous Arena.
蘇娜說:"我還有很多空間可以進步，我無時無刻都想要變得更好。"
蘇娜以前有在MSG打過球，在他大二那時因為Holiday Festival打過兩次，因為現在
MSG在整修，尼克沒有一場季前賽在MSG，就看蘇娜是否能成為尼克的一員回到那世界
知名的體育館吧。
“It would be a huge honor,” he said. “Playing [with the Knicks] at Madison
Square Garden would be a dream.”
蘇娜說:"這是個巨大的榮耀，以身為尼克的身分在MSG打球是個夢想。"

He is the 2012 Big Ten scoring champion.
He has been a three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection ( 2010 –2nd team;
2011 –3rd team coaches/honorable mention media; 2012–1st team) and the
Northwestern statistical leader in several categories.
2010是大學第二隊，2011是第三隊，2012是大學第一隊
He was the 2010 Sporting News Most Improved Player.
2010年被票選為最佳進步球員
In high school, he was the 2008 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class
4A Slam Dunk Champion.

He was a member of the gold-medal-winning USA Basketball team at the 2009
FIBA Under-19 World Championship .

目前看來應該是籃板能力偏弱(不過武僧有說他可以搶板...)，但三分投射應該是不錯的，
最後一個名額，我比較希望是年輕的內線，畢竟我們的內線替補偏老，一有甚麼痛痛的話
，那就糟糕了...，要從這裏面挑的話，我比較希望出現的是腰帶王二號蘇娜，有傳球視野
的模擬人生，或是能背框也能砍三分的靠譜蘭。再加上如果有時候有垃圾時間，總不能叫
那群老人上去消耗時間吧，等等受傷了賠不起啊...所以GG阿，選個年輕內線來玩吧~
後場群還有累不死的過動兒JR可以操，但前場沒有一個可以拿出來亂操亂玩的人啊QQ
補充另一記者的看法:
Shurna has impressed many during the first week of training camp and could
force Mike Woodson into a very difficult decision.
Shurna went undrafted mostly because scouts viewed him as a liability
defensively, but so far through camp he has shown the ability to compete
defensively, often being assigned to Carmelo Anthony during 5-on-5 scrimmages
and he hasn’t backed down, getting right up in his grill and even forcing a
couple of turnovers which have led to transition scores.
蘇娜在訓練營的第一周精彩的表現將會讓武僧做出困難的決定，蘇娜之所以會在選秀會落選
，就是因為他的防守過於悲劇，但是在經過訓練營後，他展現了他是有能力防守的，在
訓練營中的5對5練習，蘇娜很可憐的常被分配到要守尼克的王牌瓜瓜，不過他沒有退縮，
他奮力的死守瓜，甚至還讓瓜發生了兩次TO，並且還因為這兩次失誤得分!
In addition, Shurna has shown the athleticism to run the floor with the likes
of Raymond Felton and has been able to finish on the wing by getting to the
rim.
But while all of that has been a surprise, Shurna is known for his ability to
shoot the rock and he does it very well, knocking down 44 percent of his
attempts from behind the arc during his senior season.
另外，蘇娜還展現了他的體能，他可以跟著肥頓在側翼跑，還不會被肥頓甩掉，當然
這些都是驚喜就是了，蘇娜被廣為人知的就是他的三分能力，他真的做得很棒。
What makes Shurna an attractive option is his shooting ability. While the
Knicks have experience and are deep on paper, the one area they are lacking
is good perimeter shooting.
Looking at the current Knicks shooting percentages: Carmelo Anthony (.335
from behind the arc in 2012), J.R. Smith (.347), Ronnie Brewer (.275),
Raymond Felton (.305), Jason Kidd (.375),and Iman Shumpert (.306), what they
don’t have is many consistent threats from downtown.
大家都知道，尼克雖然現在有很多經驗跟很棒的板凳深度，但是他們卻少了某個事物
，就是不夠穩定的三分，讓我們瞧瞧他們的射手，第一名沒話說腰帶王(0.472)，第二位
老不死的老基(0.375)，第三名神經病JR(0.347)，第四名尼克一哥瓜瓜(0.335)，第五名
香波(0.306)，第六名重磅回歸的肥頓(0.305)，第七名尼克花魁小酒(0.275)，看看那除了
第一名跟還稍微能看的第二名以外，其他人真的是......不是甚麼重大威脅就是了...
，至於另外一位SG/SF小白...我就不多說了。
The Knicks finished 21st in the NBA a season ago in three-point shooting and
that was with the top shooter in the league. Adding another guy who can shoot
the rock is a good thing.
Of course there’s also the issue of a veteran team and the lack of quality
minutes for Shurna. That alone may make the decision to send him to the
D-League to get more consistent minute an easier one.
But one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that Shurna is making his case
for the final guaranteed contract (the other is presumed to go to Rasheed
Wallace). If he keeps opening eyes, Shurna is going to make Woodson’s
decision an awfully difficult one.
尼克三分球最後是聯盟中第21名，如果能加入像蘇娜這種很會射的射手，絕對是個幫助
當然，這裡有個問題是，在這麼有經驗跟深度的球隊，蘇娜能分到幾分鐘?或是決定
是否把她送到發展聯盟去擁有穩定的時間會比較好點，還有一件事是可以確定的，
如果蘇娜再繼續讓大家大開眼界，那麼它將會讓武僧去難以抉擇他要選誰當最後一人。
