PHOENIX — Raymond Felton, the Knicks starting point guard, said Wednesday
night his right pinkie has a fracture following an X-Ray and he will likely
need surgery and be out four to six weeks.

Bah Humbug. The Felton injury is a big blow considering Amar’e Stoudemire is
expected back Jan. 1 and Iman Shumpert is gearing up to return later in the
month. Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni will now be the two point guards.

Felton will fly to New York Thursday and see a hand specialist to confirm the
next course of action, a Knicks official said.
“I may need surgery,’’ Felton said. ‘I got to do what’s best for my hand
so I can get back and help this team.''

Felton walked into the arena last night with his hand wrapped and missed his
first game of the season after playing through a series of hand injuries.

“It’s swollen,’’ Felton said of the pinkie. “It was basically purple
when I got up this morning. It’s sore and it hurts.”

aboard. He’s tough. He has struggled the last few weeks with his hands. If
he could play, he would play.’’

Initially Felton described the injury as a sprained ligament, suffered when
he and the Lakers' Steve Nash were going for a ball on Tuesday.
But that proved to be overly optimistic. Felton was to return to New York
Thursday to be evaluated by team doctors. He said surgery is a possibility.
If that is the course of action, Felton said, there is no reason to believe
it would end his season, but it could cost him four to six weeks.

Coach Mike Woodson said, "We just have to go back and assess it and see where
we are and go from there.''
Woodson said if Felton is out for an extended period Jason Kidd and Pablo
Prigioni will share most responsibility for the point guard position, with
J.R. Smith also contributing. "We can mix and match and see what happens,''
Woodson said.

Woodson said no tests are scheduled for Anthony, indicating it’s not a major
injury but it’s unclear his status for Sacramento tomorrow night.
“Anytime you lose your best player — I don’t know how long he’s going to
be out — there is a concern,’’ said coach Mike Woodson.

Anthony didn’t talk as he told a reporter, “I have nothing to say. I’m
getting treatment.’’

He missed two games after spraining his ankle against the Lakers on Dec. 13
at the Garden when he was hammered by Dwight Howard on a drive.

The Knicks are 3-2 in games Anthony has missed.

get in flow of the game [with erratic minutes]. But I got to do the little
things first.’’

Woodson said the extent of Anthony's problem was not evident until Wednesday
morning, at which point both he and Felton deemed themselves unable to play.
"They slept on it and got up this morning and couldn't do it," the coach
said. "I just have to respect that and keep it moving and get the other guys
ready to play . . . Both of them made the decision. I mean, they couldn't
go.''
The only sliver of good injury news was that Steve Novak was available after
taking a blow to the head from a Kobe Bryant elbow. "He can take a punch, I
guess," Woodson said.

know," he said. "I'm sure if he could play he would play, so obviously it's
bothering him."

更新:關於老基的上場時間

Jason Kidd was almost incredulous when asked about the specter of he, at 38,
and Pablo, at 35, playing big minutes:
"Why not?" Kidd replied. "This is basketball and there's going to be
injuries.

"There's a lot of talent on this team. Whatever we have to do to win. I think
Pablo will be fine. I think the people we have on this roster can win
ballgames."

Mike Woodson, however, admitted he will have to be careful with Kidd's
minutes. In December, Kidd is averaging over 33 minutes per game. He started
out the season at 25 minutes per game.

"I know I can't wear him down like that," he said. "Pablo's got to help us,
which he has all season, in terms of giving us some minutes . . . His minutes
will jump up, Kidd's minutes will go down . . . We can mix and match and see
what happens."

老基上場時間覺得沒問題，他覺得他跟老普撐得住肥頓不在的這段時間。
