Undermanned without their “Trio Grande’’ frontcourt, the Knicks battled
with heart for the first half and even came on in the fourth quarter. But
they didn’t have the firepower to keep it up as the athletic Clippers opened
a 19-point lead in the third and held on.

After the Knicks fell to the Clippers, 93-80, on Sunday, losing for the
fourth straight game to match their season-worst streak, J.R. Smith said
something has to change or they will be home by the end of April.
"It's starting to take a toll on me mentally, losing like this after the type
of team we were at the beginning of the year," Smith said. "We just have to
keep playing through it."

Smith believes the Knicks, who were without Carmelo Anthony and Tyson

"At this point, we really don't have a choice," he said. "If we keep playing
like this, we're looking at an early exit in the playoffs or we got to start
fighting. We need some help. We've got to help each other."

point we've got to at least try to get one and feel good about ourselves a
little bit," Smith said. "After this 0-and-4 right now we've got to find out
how to get one win on the road trip."

Jason Kidd said of the Knicks’ woes: “The biggest concern is just our
health. We have to get healthy first and go from there.”

that dependable tip-back offensive rebounder who can also set screens for

We still have the playoffs to worry about. We still have a goal to reach, and
that's to win our division and still be in the top-two or three in the East
before the end of the year," Felton said.

The notoriously tight-lipped Knicks like to funnel all information through
their head coach, Mike Woodson, hiding the medical staff and general manager
Glen Grunwald from the media and the fans.
That's fine at times, but also risky when Woodson makes a declaration as
wrong-headed as the words he uttered regarding the troublesome right knee of
Carmelo Anthony.

"If the best player tells you he can play, like if LeBron [James] comes to
Miami and says he can play, they're going to play him," Woodson said. "I'm
going to do the same thing. I'm going to listen to my players. We accommodate
him by playing him."

LOS ANGELES -- Carmelo Anthony wasn't in the mood to talk about his injured
right knee.
Anthony left the locker room Sunday while Mike Woodson was talking to
reporters after the Knicks' 93-80 loss to the Clippers. When approached,
Anthony said, "No, I'm not talking today."

Woodson was asked if he expects to have either available for the Utah game.
"Don't know," he said. "I really honestly can't say. I don't know if they're
coming back [Monday night]. I just don't know at this point.''
