Rasheed Wallace Retires, Won’t Play In Playoffs

After sitting most of the season with a left foot injury, Rasheed Wallace’s
attempted comeback (3 minutes vs. Bobcats Monday) failed and he will retire,
again, the Knicks announced Wednesday. Wallace will not be available for the
Knicks upcoming playoff run. The 38-year-old averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds
(14 minutes) in 21 games for the Knicks this season.

According to the New York Knicks:

EVP, Basketball Operations & GM Glen Grunwald announced F/C Rasheed Wallace
has retired from playing pro basketball. “Rasheed has given this team
everything he had,” Head Coach Mike Woodson said. “He is a winner,true
professional & leader on & off the court.” Due to his injury, he will not be
available to play for us during the playoffs.

Motivation at the team's training facility: "[Rasheed Wallace] wrote,
'Teamwork makes a dream work,' and he drew a pretty accurate [Larry] O'Brien
trophy, which was pretty impressive actually how good it was considering he
thought he could erase it."
