GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Amar'e Stoudemire is determined to have a positive impact
this postseason for the Knicks even if his time will be limited -- for real
this time.
Mike Woodson said Stoudemire was overextended when he returned from left-knee
surgery earlier this year. Stoudemire is expected to return from March
right-knee surgery in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Saturday
night in Indiana. Woodson said Stoudemire would play 10-15 minutes, "if
that," and he would have to manage his expectations.

武僧說阿罵G3可以上場，大概只能打10~15分鐘。


"We talked about it way back when he had the surgery, what we expected from
him based on him coming back," Woodson said after practice Thursday. "I think
we might have pushed him too much early on. So we got to be really cautious
this time with him and make sure we're doing the right things with him. Not
that we didn't think that when he came back the first time, but this time we
really got to be cautious. He understands."

Stoudemire still hasn't gone five-on-five since his last game, March 7
against Oklahoma City. He played three-on-three Monday and went four-on-four
Thursday. Both times he was guarded mostly by Earl Barron.

阿罵還沒辦法打55，這幾天他打了33跟44，都是在守BARRON。


"I'm expecting to just contribute the best way I can," Stoudemire said. "I
don't have time to find my rhythm. It has to be ready from the start. And
that's what it's going to be."
"No, I expect to play at a high level," Stoudemire said. "Despite injuries,
still I'll be working, and definitely work toward becoming a great player
again."

阿罵:"我只希望我可以盡可能地做出貢獻，我沒有時間來找回節奏，我已經準備好了，

"It's a great opportunity for him to be out there and give us a scoring
presence on the block," Tyson Chandler said. "We could really use him right
now and he's been looking good so far."
"I don't think we or he are expecting [him] to come out and play 20, 30
minutes and score 15, 20, 30 points," Anthony said. "If he can help us, which
we know he can, he can do that."

J.R. Smith is in a deep, poorly timed shooting funk, but it could always be
worse, as John Starks knows too well.
So how does the author of the most infamous shot-missing meltdown in Knicks
playoff history think Smith should find his way out of his slump?
The same way Smith always does: Keep shooting.

JR深陷手感低潮，而John Starks對此非常的了解

要如何幫助JR擺脫低潮呢?答案大家都知道了－就是繼續投。


"He has the mentality that no matter how many shots I miss, I know the next
one is going to fall," said Starks, who in Game 7 of the 1994 Finals shot
2-for-18 in a 90-84 loss to the Rockets. "You have to have that mentality."

John Starks:"JR不會去在意他打了多少鐵，或是認為我下一次一定又是打鐵，身為射手

你得要有這種決心。"


"Just relax and play ball," Anthony said. "Don't try to put so much pressure
on yourself to go out there and make something happen. Just let it happen,
let the game come to you."
And, most importantly, this: "Keep shooting the ball, because we need him to
shoot the ball. We need him to make shots."
Anthony said Smith has acknowledged being "in a little slump." But Melo said
he does not believe in such things.

just trying to keep him upbeat, keep him positive because he's a big part of
our team . . . I don't think he will be in a so-called slump much longer."

Woodson did not reiterate the benching threat he issued on ESPN Radio
Wednesday, but he did reiterate his belief in his mercurial guard.
"Eventually he'll break loose and when he does he'll be back to J.R. again
and that's going to help us even more," Woodson said.

Starks had reason to believe things would turn around if he kept firing in
that long-ago Game 7. Before he went 0-for-11 on three-pointers in the
finale, he had been 5-for-9 in Game 6.
"J.R. is the kind of guy who plays with a lot of emotions and he's a shooter
and a scorer, and I was the same way," Starks said. "I just wanted to put the
ball in the basket, and he has the same type of mentality."
Starks, who won the Sixth Man Award in 1996-97, said that while he might have
been a better defender than Smith, "He's a much better scorer than I was. I
can honestly say that."

John Starks相信事情會有變好的。

Mike Woodson also chimed in on Smith's shooting slump.
"Shooters go through it, and he's just got to think every time he pulls up to
shoot a shot or he goes to the rim, that he's going to make the shot," he
said. "I mean, you can't back away from it. We've all gone through it as
players throughout our careers, and I've got faith and I believe in J.R.
Eventually he'll break loose, and when he does, he'll be back to J.R. again,
and that's going to help us even more I think."

"I thought I was there in the Boston series, but then I realized I'm not in
the conditioning that I thought I was," he said. "I feel better, though,
every game, and these three days are great for me because it gives me an
opportunity to work on my strengths, as well as my timing and conditioning --
everything that you need to be on the basketball court."

FELTON'S FINE: Raymond Felton didn't participate in Thursday's practice
because of personal reasons. Woodson said it wasn't related to his twisted
left ankle in Game 2, and he expects the point guard back in practice on
Friday.

THE PICK-AND-ROLL PULL-UP: It's a midrange shot the Knicks have found
available in the series so far, because Hibbert tends to float back to
protect the basket.

"He's daring our guards to take that shot, and we've got to make it, because
he's laying down in the paint," Chandler said. "We've got to take advantage
of that, him just standing under the basket. We've got that free throw line
dotted pull-up jump shot all game."

Woodson said that was "the difference" in the outcome, and it all started
with defensive and effort plays.

"I thought we had success guarding everybody. It wasn't just David West," he
said. "We took the challenge and got up and overplayed and tried to fight on
post-ups. We didn't give up as many second-chance buckets."

武僧:"G1跟G2的確有些不同，我認為我們成功地守住對方，不只是大衛西而已，我們迎戰

並且成功地擊敗對方，我們也沒有放棄二次進攻的機會，抓了很多籃板!"
