LOS ANGELES (TICKER) -- Los Angeles Clippers forward Chris Wilcox, in the
midst of the best season of his brief career, was diagnosed with a lower
right leg stress reaction Tuesday and is sidelined indefinitely.
Wilcox informed the medical staff of discomfort in his right leg 10 days ago.
After a treatment program proved ineffective, Wilcox underwent an MRI on
Tuesday and was diagnosed with the condition - which is caused by repetitive
pounding and overuse - by team physician Dr. Tony Daly.
The condition will be monitored and Wilcox will be re-evaluated on a weekly
basis.
Considered a project when he was drafted in 2002, Wilcox was showing dramatic
improvement this season, averaging career highs in points (10.1), rebounds
(5.1) and minutes (23.5) in 29 games.
He did not play in the Clippers' 102-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets on
Monday and had not logged more than 10 minutes in any of Los Angeles'
previous three contests.
