Clippers Sign Center Chris Kaman to Multi-Year Contract Extension
The Los Angeles Clippers today signed center Chris Kaman to a multi-year
contract extension. The contract extension, announced by Vice President
of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor, will begin in the 2007-08 season.
Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
“We are absolutely thrilled to ensure that Chris will be here and staying
with the Clippers for a long time to come,” Baylor said. “He is one of
the best young big men in the league and we feel that he will just
continue to get better.”
The 7-0, 260 pound center averaged 11.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.38
blocks per game last season in 78 games. In his first career playoff
appearance, Kaman averaged 10.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in 11 games.
Kaman enjoyed a break-out 2005-06, ranking ninth in the NBA in rebounds
per game (9.6), 12th in field goal percentage (.523) and 24th in blocks
per game (1.38) while recording 29 points/rebounds double-doubles.
