The Los Angeles Clippers formally interviewed Dallas Mavericks assistant
coach Dwane Casey Monday morning and plan to interview former Chicago Bulls
coach Vinny Del Negro Tuesday, according to sources close to the situation.
The team is expected to choose between the two finalists shortly thereafter,
although not necessarily by the beginning of the free agent signing period
Wednesday night at 9:01 p.m. on the West Coast.
Casey and Del Negro were the finalists for the Bulls job two years ago, with
the personable Del Negro ultimately winning out. In two seasons with Chicago,
Del Negro went 41-41, then lost in the playoffs two consecutive years.
Casey went 53-69 during a season and a half stint as coach of the Minnesota
Timberwolves from 2005 to the middle of 2007.
The Clippers have been without a head coach since firing Mike Dunleavy in
March. Assistant Kim Hughes was named interim coach and the team went 8-25 to
close out the season. Hughes was fired as interim coach the day after the
regular season ended, but has stayed on with the club as an assistant coach
until his contract expires on June 30.
快艇隊這幾天主要的工作在於教練的面談
昨天約了小牛隊助教,也是先前灰狼教練的Dwane Casey
另一個就是今天的公牛前任教練Vinny Del Negro
這兩人的執教經驗中,VDN成績較好
連續兩季都有帶領公牛打入季後賽,但都在第一輪就止步
而跟高層關係不佳,更是成為他去職的導火線
有趣的是這兩年中,公牛的例行賽成績都是41勝41負
Casey在灰狼期間(2005-07)的勝率還不到5成
而教練帶隊方式似乎也可說是KG最終離去明尼蘇達的最後一根稻草
對了,如果有人對前教練Kim Hughes的下落有興趣的話
他在今年球季結束之後就失去了代總教練的身分
但目前仍然掛名快艇的助理教練,不過他的合約
在美國時間6月30號(也就是再過幾個小時)就要到期了
