One of the changes you targeted in the off-season was upgrading our point
guard play. Assess what Fisher and Farmar have been able to do, specifically
defensively.
你在開季前其中一項改變就是提升我們控球後衛的素質。請你評估Fisher和Farmar做到的
有哪些？特別在防守上。

Jordan’s given us a boost, he did the same thing last year in the first half
of the season, but wasn’t able to continue it for the whole season.
Hopefully he can continue it for the whole season this year.
Farmar提升了我們的後場，他去年上半季其實就做了同樣的貢獻，只是沒能持續到季末。
我期待他今年能一直挺到最後。

Derek Fisher has been a blessing, a god sends at that position. He’s
exceeded our expectations on the court and off the court in terms of
leadership in the locker room, with the press, just setting an example for
our young players, in particular our two young point guards—Jordan &
(Javaris) Crittenton.
至於Fisher則是上帝的恩賜啊，上帝就怎麼的把他給送過來了。他在場上已經提供了超乎
我們所預期的，在休息室更提供了領導能力，給予年輕球員一些壓力，然後以身作則給年
輕人看，特別是Farmar和Javaris。

Talk about how Kobe's game is different so far this year than it was at the
end of last year and role Derek Fisher plays in that?
談談Kobe的表現為何和去年季末有這麼大的不同，以及Fisher在其中所扮演的角色為何？

I’m not sure if I notice that big a difference. He seems to be more
encouraging and embrace the leadership role even more. I thought his play the
first half of last year was stellar, so I can’t say that he’s playing a lot
better than he was last year. I thought he was really good in the first half
of last year. Then when our play as a team wasn’t very good I didn’t think
any of us looked very good.

He does seem to be embracing the leadership position and I think to some
degree he recognizes the young talents on this team, not only for what they
could be down the road, which may not help him, but for what they bring to
the table today, which may help him. I think he embraces those contributions.

Where is Javaris Crittenton in his development right now? Will we be sending
him to the D-Fenders?

It’s a typical rookie season. Now-a-days you’re no longer 23-years old when
you’re a rookie, you’re 19, so it’s that much harder to understand what’s
going on on this level and to get into a game with a veteran team. This is
not unlike other rookie seasons that we’ve had in the past.
這是一個典型的新人球季。現在這個時代你是個新人的話，你不會是23歲，而是19歲，所

I’m sure that he’s frustrated from time-to-time, if not most of the time;
because I know he wants to play. He plays a lot in practice and he had a very
good training camp and we’re very very high on his contributions down the
road. There’s no reason that he can’t be in this league and be a starter in
this league at some point in his career and for a long time.
我確定的是他可能會因為上場時間不多而一次次的感到挫折，因為我知道他非常想上場打

Where do we stand on Coby Karl? Have we seen enough to evaluate him?

Coby’s been sent down to the D-League, incidentally that’s something that
we might do with Javaris—we’ll evaluate that as the season progresses,
perhaps by the end of January we’ll have a better feel.
Coby之前曾被送到發展聯盟去，Javaris其實我們也有在考慮過要這麼做，我們現在正在
做評估當中，或許可能在一月底會是個好時間。

We thought for Coby it gave him a bunch of games where he could play a lot
and work on his game and improve, because he wants to play at the next level.
But as a team we have decisions to make also. He doesn’t have a guaranteed
contract and contracts become guaranteed in the early part of January—the
10th—so it gave us a chance to evaluate him going forward also.
我們想讓Coby可以打多一點的比賽，而且在比賽中尋求進步，因為他很想往上提升。不過
我們對於球隊有球隊的選擇。目前為止他並沒有保障合約，而保證合約則是在1/10才會生
效，所以也提供了我們一點機會來測試他能進步多少。

At this stage—January 3rd—we still have a week to sort our way through the
financial part of the business, which is no fun. He played very well down
there and it helped us in our decision making process.

Last year on this date we were 20-11, this year we're 19-11, but it seems
like this team is significantly better and hasn't been aided by a soft early
schedule.

It’s really too early for somebody in my position to feel too good about a
team or too bad about a team. As you mentioned, our record is very similar to
what it was last year and we know how last year ended. I do think several of
our young players made significant progress over the summer and I think that
leads to some expected optimism and I think that’s good.
對我這種坐在這位置上的人來說，要說這支球隊是很好或很差都還太早了。如你所說的，
我們目前成績跟去年很相仿，但你也知道我們去年後來是什麼鳥樣  (鄉民哭哭)。
不過我認為今年暑假後確實有幾位年輕球員有顯著的進步了，而且也或許可以給我們一些
理想的期待，這應該還不錯。

We’re expected to win here and we’ve got a lot of games to go, so I’m
going to reserve final judgment until the season ends. I do feel, due to some
of the jumps that our young players made, perhaps a tad more encouraged than
I was a year ago at this time, but not much. I’m going to wait until the end
of the year.
我們被期待可以一直贏下去，而且我們還有一堆比賽要打，所以在球季結束前，我還是會
對我們的評量做一些保留。不過我有一點感受，有鑑於我們的年輕球員有了一些進步，也
許我會比我去年此時還要亢奮一點點，不過一點都不多喔，不要想太多。我將一直等到球

Last season, the Lakers as a team didn't drive very often to the basket. This
season Fisher and Farmar have both done this consistently and Trevor is
always ready to go to the rack. Was this something you had hoped to improve
from last season?
去年的湖人並沒有常常去攻擊籃框的動作。本季，Fisher和Farmar都有穩定的做到，
Ariza也一直都準備好要得分。你認為這就是你期待要跟去年不一樣的地方嗎？

That falls more into the coach’s realm as far as answering that question. I
don’t think there’s any doubt that the closer you are to the basket the
higher the percentage is going to be and if we can somehow figure out how to
make layups on all of our shots then we’d all be happy. That is something
that you strive for. I’m not sure you can say “let me get this player” and
therefore you’ll be making layups for the rest of the year.
我想這比較是教練才能回答的問題吧。無疑的是，你靠得離籃框越近，你就越能把分數塞
進去，而且如果我們可以創造更多上籃的機會，那我們將會非常之爽。那這就是我們得奮

I know our coach has made a point of having a so-called secondary break,
which means that if there’s not an official fast-break, we do have a
secondary break where he allows the players to freelance before getting into
the triangle. A lot of times a player will react to the freedom of getting
out and running, cutting, and being more innovative which might lead to more
layups.
我知道我們的教練有在講一點叫做所謂的"二次停頓"，意思就是如果你無法創造一次有效
的快攻，那就做個二次停頓，這樣他就能讓有一個球員在進入三角之前會有空檔。很多時
候會有一個球員可以跑出三角、然後跑動、然後切入，然後創造更多新的上籃機會。

Typically out of a set offense with the clock running down you’re probably
going to end up with jump shots. A higher percentage shot would normally come
in a break of secondary break situation and that is something that our coach’
s worked on this year versus last year.
一般來說，如果你的進攻是在設定之外，但迫於進攻時間的關係，通常你只能做跳投取分
。但如果使用二次停頓的方式來創造空間，那麼就能更使得跳投的命中率給提高，這就是

What would you like to see this team improve on?

I think staying healthy is the most important thing in this league. A lot of
that pressure falls onto our medical staff downstairs and our coaches in
regulating minutes throughout the season.
我想保持健康在NBA是最重要的事情吧。會有更多的壓力落在我們的醫療團隊上，而教練
則是需要思考如何在整季調配球員上場的時間。

Based on where we are to date we still have lapses in the fourth quarter
where we give up a difficultly earned lead, weather that’s at home or on the
road. It’s happened to us a couple of times on the road where we had a big
lead heading into the fourth quarter and we weren’t able to hold onto that
lead and close a team out. That’s something a veteran team has to learn how
to do. I think our record would be two or three games better right now if we
could have done that two or three times this season.

Is there a certain victory or loss this season really sticks out in his mind?

There’s a couple. I think the game at Golden State is a game that we
controlled the whole game up until the last two and a half minutes and we
couldn’t close it out. The Cleveland game, we had an 11-point lead going
into the fourth quarter and that was a team I thought we could have beat on
the road. We ended up 3 of 4 on the trip, so I’m happy, but that was a tough
loss as well.
兩場。第一場是對金州勇士那場，我們控制了整場比賽，結果最後兩分半鐘，我們搞砸了。
另一場則是cheese隊，第四節開打前我們有11分的領先，而且我認為這場客場我們應該可
以拿下來。不過總而言之，那次客場之旅我們四場拿下三場，我還是挺高興的，只是中間
穿插一場令人GY的敗場。

Then there was a home loss or two early in the season where I thought we
could have controlled the game better. If you’re a decent team you’ve got
to win your home games and we gave away a couple early in the season.
還有大約一兩場我們主場輸球的比賽，我認為我們應該可以控制得更好才是。如果你是一
支好的球隊，你就必須拿下開季那幾場在主場輸掉的比賽才是。
