The Clippers have one of the NBA’s worst records at just 18-33, that is
fourth to last in the Western Conference standings. In their defense, they
have been without injured forward and franchise player Elton Brand all season
due to injury, leaving a shell of the team that came within one game of
reaching the Western Conference Finals two years ago.

The inner-city rivals split their two matchups last season, with
each team taking a game on each other’s “home court.” In their last meeting,
a 118-110 Clippers’ victory on the Lakers’ court, Kobe went off for 50
points, but only two other teammates reached double figures in scoring.

According to an article in the Los Angeles Times earlier this week,
the aforementioned Brand participated in non-contact drills this week and
reiterated his plans to return to the court this season even if it would be
too little, too late for the Clippers’ playoff hopes.
根據這星期先前一篇在L.A TIMES的文章，上面提到的BRAND這禮拜參加了沒有身體碰撞
的練習，同時反覆的計畫著在本賽季盡快回到球場，即使快艇進入季後賽的可能性是如此
的小，也似乎有些太遲了。
Although he has been the subject of much trade speculation for
seemingly his entire tenure with the Clippers, forward Corey Maggette is
having one of his better statistical seasons, averaging a team-high 22 points
to go along with six rebounds. Rookie Al Thornton has also had a solid
freshmen campaign, scoring almost 11 points per contest.
僅管快艇是以他為中心做出投機的交易，且表面上他在快艇佔住了一個不動的先發位置
，前鋒Corey Maggette有了生涯數據最亮眼的一個球季，全隊平均最高的22分還有6籃板

Center Chris Kaman is very quietly having a monster year for the
Clips, pulling down over 13 rebounds and 16 points per game. While he may not
strike fear into opposing teams, he is as efficient as any true center in the
West and should not be taken lightly.
中鋒Chris Kaman非常低調的有了怪物般的一年獻給快艇，每場比賽抓了超過13個籃板還
有16分的進帳。只要他攻擊沒有受到對手的壓制，他的高效率即使在西區也絕對是真正
的好中鋒，以及不該被低估。

While the Clippers have used the absence of Brand as an excuse for
their futility all season long, it’s hard to argue that their roster has
less talent than a team like the Sacramento Kings who are ahead of them in
standings. Even without their star forward and the injuries that have
affected some of the team’s veterans like Sam Cassell, L.A.’s other team
has still underachieved this season.
僅管快艇過去一直用Brand當作是他們本季毫無所獲的藉口，但這依舊
難以說明他們隊員的能力比其他球隊來的更差，像是沙加緬度國王--排名在快艇之上
的那隊。即便是沒有了他們的明星前鋒，以及一些傷病困擾著隊上的老人，像是火
星人，LA的另一個球隊的表現完全是差強人意的糟糕。
The Lakers will have had three days off when the teams take the
STAPLES Center court, with L.A. coming off an emotional victory over
Pacific Division rival Phoenix. Meanwhile, the Clippers will be playing on
back-to-back nights after defeating Utah at home on Friday night. Considering
the already depleted state of the Clippers’ roster and the Lakers’ hot streak,
this reprisal of the L.A. rivalry should be fairly anticlimactic.
湖人在STAPLES Center的比賽前在LA有著三天充分的休息在，伴隨他們的是
從鳳凰城擊敗太平洋區同區競爭對手的快感與勝利的激情。同時，星期五在主場擊退來犯
的阿爵以後，快艇得面臨的是背靠背的比賽。考慮到快艇球員已經消耗的體力，還有湖人
火熱的近況，這場競爭似乎並不是公平的，看來本季的洛城德比將會以虎頭蛇尾收場。
