At the start of each season, every team starts training camp with dreams of the
experiencing the ultimate achievement by season's end -- winning an NBA crown.
That was no different for Lamar Odom and the 2008-09 Lakers squad, who shared
that singular goal all season long and refused to settle for anything less.

STEADY NO. SEVEN

The 2008-09 season proved as productive as ever for Lamar as the nine-year
veteran averaged double-digit points for the ninth consecutive season, posting
an 11.3 ppg mark. The Package also had one of his most productive seasons on
the glass, averaging 8.2 rebounds per contest, all while averaging less than 30
minutes per game due to his new-found bench role.

Lamar has made the most of his minutes in his last two seasons with the Lakers,
shooting a career-best 52.5 percent last year and posting his second-highest
field goal percentage of his career this year, with a 49.2 percent mark.

MILESTONES

While Lamar and his teammates earned the highest possible team accolade by
winning the NBA championship, 2008-09 was a special year for Lamar from an
individual standpoint, too. No. 7 reached the 10,000-point milestone on April 7
in the Lakers' 122-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings. LO posted an
impressive 15/11 line that night to put an exclamation point on the
accomplishment.

GAME OF THE YEAR
Though LO and the Lakers didn't face LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the
Finals as everyone thought they would, No. 7 managed to do plenty of damage to
the Cavs in their regular season battles. On Feb. 8, the Lakers faced a
Cavaliers team that had not lost a single home game all season. However, that
soon changed once the Purple and Gold arrived.

Lamar torched the Cavs to the tune of a season-high 28 points and 17 rebounds
and led the Lakers to a 101-91 victory, giving L.A. a 2-0 advantage in the
season series against the NBA's best team record-wise in the regular season.

雖然Lamar和湖人隊沒有在決賽碰到大家覺得他們會對上的LBJ，湖人七號在季賽可是造成

FINISHING STRONG

Lamar got out to a hot start in the first round in the playoffs with a monster
series against the Jazz, averaging 17.8 points per game in the series. Though
his play cooled down in the Rockets series due to his well-documented back
injury, Lamar finished strong to put away a pesky Nuggets team and the over-
matched Magic.

LO scored 19 and 20 points, respectively, in Games 5 and 6 against Denver and
reached double-digits in scoring in all but one game of the NBA Finals, bruised
back and all.

強悍的終結

Lamar在季後賽第一輪以強悍的表現幫助湖人隊打倒猶他爵士，系列賽場均17.8，雖然在對

AS SEEN BY…

Lamar has been compared to Earvin “Magic” Johnson several times in his career
for his similar combination of size and skills. Ironically, however, Magic
chose to comment on a different attribute of Lamar when describing his opinion
of LO:

“Lamar is probably one of the nicest guys in the league,” former Lakers star
Magic Johnson said.
“Guys like him don't come around much. That's what I love about him.”

The eventual outcome of Lamar's free agent status has been debated and
prophesied by sports writers and TV personalities ad nauseum. While it is yet
to be determined whether or not LO will remain in L.A., it appears both sides
would like to keep No. 7 in Lakerland.

“I think they're very interested in bringing me back, I want to be back,”
he said. “It's real important. Got another chance to win another championship
and continue to get better. With this group of guys we got, the sky's the limit
how good we can be.”

“You want to keep the team together,” Odom said Thursday. “We just won a
championship, you don't want to see one piece not there.
Hopefully we can keep everybody here.”

THE FUTURE

Lamar acknowledged the fact that this summer's free agents aren't likely to
receive the same amount of money they're accustomed to due to the sputtering
economy.

“It's always difficult, especially the economic times we're in now,”
