Derek Fisher was 1-for-8 shooting when Ron Artest inbounded the ball to him
with 2.2 seconds remaining Thursday night against the Boston Celtics at
Staples Center.

Fisher turned, fired and missed what would have been the winning jump shot at
the buzzer. The Celtics held on for an 87-86 victory that ended the Lakers'
four-game winning streak without injured guard Kobe Bryant.

It was the sort of shot Fisher has made in the past to bail the Lakers out of
a tight spot. It is the sort of shot he said Thursday he would take again and
again and again.

Thursday's miss would not deter him in the future.

"That was a difficult play to try to make," he said after finishing with
three points on 1-for-9 shooting,

Certainly, there is no shortage of evidence that Fisher can produce in the
clutch. Remember his tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation in Game 4 of

No question, the 35-year-old Fisher doesn't have the legs he once did, but
Lakers coach Phil Jackson didn't hesitate when asked earlier in the week who
would be his go-to guy with Bryant sidelined by an ankle injury.

Actually, Fisher wasn't the intended target with the Lakers trailing the
Celtics by one point with 2.2 seconds remaining. Jackson said Fisher was
merely a decoy, but Artest passed him the ball after the play broke down.

Jackson also said he would have preferred Artest had taken a timeout and given
the Lakers a chance to regroup. Fisher said he wasn't surprised Artest passed
him the ball. He was only disappointed in his miss.

Jackson也表示他寧可Artest叫個暫停並給予Lakers重新組織的機會。Fisher則不意外
Artest將球傳給自己，他只對自己失手感到沮喪

"If you're confident in yourself and you know your teammates are confident
in you, if you're open, you take the shot and live with the consequences,"
he said after misfiring on a contested 20-foot jumper.

"That wasn't the type of shot that I would like to get, but if there's anybody
else on the team that is willing to take whatever (heat) comes with it, it's
me. I just wish we would have won the game. I'll take anything individually,
as far as my stats, as long as we win the game."

When a reporter wondered what Fisher says to fans who ask if he's lost his
magic touch, he said, "They ask you (reporters). They don't ask me. Most of
the time when they see me they ask for my autograph."

"That's part of the business when you've been around as long as I have,"
he added, referring to public criticism. "You learn that people always like
to talk about what's next. It is what it is and I accept it for what it is.

today. It's uncertain whether Bryant will join his teammates. He has been
sidelined by a strained tendon in his left ankle since Feb. 5.
