With Kobe Bryant still nursing the right knee he had surgery on this summer,
Sasha Vujacic has stepped into that void and been productive.
Vujacic has been running with the first-team unit of Derek Fisher, Ron
Artest, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom during the early part of training camp.
During Tuesday's scrimmage with officials, Vujacic was the most impressive
player on the court.
"Sasha was like the hero today," Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said. "Sasha made
all his shots."
Bryant didn't practice Tuesday, but he did participate in Monday night's
session, his first since training camp began Saturday.
"He looked good," Jackson said about Bryant. "He had no significant problem
with it. A little swelling [in his knee], obviously, but I think that's it."
Even Luke Walton, who has been dealing with a debilitating pinched nerve in
his lower back, was able to practice during Monday night's double session and
then came back for practice again Tuesday morning.
"I was a little hesitant about it," Jackson said about Walton practicing
twice Monday. "But he wanted to try and did fine."
