Kobe Bryant is a man on fire and out to prove a point. The Black Mamba scored
40 points to lead the Lakers to an overtime win at Utah, one night after he
dropped 48 points on the Suns and appears to be playing just as good as he
has during any time of his 16-year career.

So what's currently motivating Kobe? Is it the quest to tie Michael Jordan
for a sixth championship? The exasperation of being ranked the seventh best
NBA player in a recent ESPN poll? Apparently ESPN analyst Ric Bucher might
have the answer.

On a recent edition of SportsCenter, Bucher shed some light that Bryant could
be motivated by Dwight Howard.
Howard就是原力。
"What I've heard is that he (Kobe) and Dwight Howard at one point were
texting back and forth about how they would love to play together and how
exciting that would be and then it came back to Kobe that Dwight was having
questions about how much Kobe had left in the tank," explained Bucher.

Bucher also insisted that the recent scoring surge by Kobe, which has him at
a 30.3 PPG scoring average, the second-highest of his career through his
first 12 games of a season was his way of demonstrating to the All-Star
center how much he has in the tank.

In comparison to the other top guards in the league such as Dwyane Wade,
Derrick Rose and Monta Ellis, Bryant has played 1,323 games in his career
including the postseason. If you amalgamate the games played including
postseason of Wade, Rose and Ellis that adds up to 1,316. The 13-time All
Star is tops in scoring by more than six points per game and is grabbing more
rebounds than this group of younger counterparts.

If those stats are not enough for the game's best big man, then perhaps he
would be pleased to know that no other player than Bryant has topped over 38
points in one game this season and that the only player in his 16th season
that has come within 100 points of what No. 24 has done this season in the
last 25 years is Karl Malone.

As of two days ago Howard still remains adamant to being traded to either the
Lakers, Nets or Mavericks and as of last night Kobe looks like his gas tank
is full. The two superstars will collide against each other in a mere eight
days and, if Bucher is right, then perhaps the Black Mamba might strike for
the first 50 point game of the season.
