Rios has back surgery

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) -- Former No. 1 player Marcelo Rios had back surgery and will begin training in a month.
The operation was similar to the one he had in August in Miami. But the pain did not subside, sidelining him for several months.
Dr. Alejandro Orizola operated and said the 28-year-old Chilean was recovering Friday. He said Rios had been in severe pain and the surgery was ``totally successful.''
