11/18/2003 The DC chapter of Women in Film & Video (WIFV) and the Los Angeles-based Women in Film Foundation (WIFF) helped two local DC filmmakers complete their dream project. Hitting the Right Chord, a one-hour documentary that explores the lives of seven female musicians struggling to maintain a career in an industry that prizes image over talent. These women, Melissa Ferrick, Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls, Michelle Lewis and others, learn what it really takes to make it in the business and struggle with whether they are willing to give what was required. The film will premiere Thursday, November 18th at 8:00 PM at the Spectrum Theater in Rosslyn. There will be a prescreening reception and a jam session with one of the film's featured artists and other musicians following the film. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit WIFV's Randy Goldman Fund.
