你可以再回去看看transformational grammar前面的說明

最開始   可以先從semantic evidence來看

adjunct是提供additional information.

complement 提供some content for the head

再來可以用recursive的觀點來說

adjunct可以recursive

但是complement雖然是optional  但是出現的話   只能是唯一

所以你可以說   the sauce with cream in the bowl

但是你不可以說  relief from famine from draught

還有coordination來測

就先假設  with cream是adjunct   from famine是complement

你可以說  the sauce with cream and with butter

但是你不可以說   the sauce with cream and from famine

同理可證 relief   所以這兩個PPs一定是不同的東西

你還可以用別的方法試試   但是我們老師說   大學部的用地方法有限

研究所的學的方法就知道大學部學的方法可能會不夠準確

甚至adjunct and complement還沒有非常reliable  methods來測出

但是就大學部而言    transformational grammar提到的方法就足夠了

這個版  應該有研究生   他們一定會提供更好的方法
