Free variation
In some phonetic contexts more than one pronunciation of a given sound may be
possible.
Ex: economic
字首e可念作/I/ 或 /倒3/
Palatalization
It refers to special type of assimilation in which a consonant becomes
like the neighboring sound.
#The most common types of palatalization occur when alveolar,dental,
and stops or fricatives appear before a front vowel(i,I,e...)
Ex: Did you eat ?
