有Mate1.4和Cinnamon1.6兩種。個人經驗上Mate改變不太多，這邊來介紹一下Cinnamon。

一些亮點：
Workspace OSD

Workspaces are “persistent” in Cinnamon. This means you can create
a workspace whenever you want by clicking the “+” button and it will
remain there until you decide to delete it. You can log off or even
reboot, your workspaces will remain the way you defined them.
ＯＳＤ工作區
這個工作區會是一直存在的，可以在任何時候按下“＋”按鈕創建一個工作區，
直到你刪除它。不論是登出或是重新開機，這個工作區都會維持你所設定的樣子。

Window Quick-List

The Window Quick-List is a new applet which lists all your windows
across all workspaces.
快速列表
新的小程序，會列出工作區所有的視窗。

Notifications Applet

any notification you didn’t dismiss.

Alt-Tab Thumbnails and Window Previews

The Alt-Tab window switcher is now configurable.
Cinnamon 1.6 features the following switchers:
Icons (default, similar to Cinnamon 1.4)
Icons + Thumbnails
Icons + Window Previews

Improved Sound Applet

Nemo

以上個人簡易翻譯提供大概介紹，不代表官方聲明。
這邊簡介說是亮點，但實際上應該算是既有功能的界面更新，真要說是新功能...
相對穩定的系統＋實用軟體應該才是Linux系列吸引使用者的點。

推 hl4:似乎不是LTS的，那我還是先別換吧
推 SunMoonLake:mint13似乎是LTS  要LTS的話可以用mint13
→ SunMoonLake:話說mint13的cinnamon如果不更新的話  原本的cinnamon
→ SunMoonLake:版本有個bug  會允許讓你的panel上面的元件都砍光 XD

→ jspowerplay:簡潔有力是好處，但我這裡開了利薄歐非私有崩潰現象
→ jspowerplay:目前還在想辦法測試問題
推 mstar:不知道有沒有 Ubuntu 能裝的 Mate 或 Cinnamon
→ mstar:很不喜歡 GNOME3 的 Unity，所以目前都用 gnome-..-fallback
→ uranusjr:等等, Gnome 3 跟 Unity 是兩個不一樣的東西吧
→ uranusjr:Cinnamon 就只是一個桌面環境而已, 只要找到 ppa 就能裝
→ uranusjr:(MATE 也差不多, 不過我個人覺得除非有原因要用 Gnome 2
→ uranusjr:否則用 Cinnamon 就好了, 沒必要用 MATE...)
推 MrWind:可是... 我的經驗裡,太舊的好像不太適合用最近的Mint...

推 Bencrie:推一下 Cinnamon，不過 Debian sid 裡的似乎不太穩定 orz
