Rafa: Stevie's going nowhere By Chris Stanton - Created on 20 Apr 2006 Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has rubbished reports linking Steven Gerrard with a move to Real Madrid. The Spaniard's denial follows hot on the heels of reports suggesting Real had put the Anfield captain at the top of their summer shopping list. Football director Benito Floro has been in discussion with new president Fernando Martin and Gerrard's status is thought to have been one of the topics of conversation at El Bernabeu. Benitez, however, would be loath to lose his talisman, who signed a four-year contract last summer to quash speculation linking him with a move to Premiership champions Chelsea. The former Valencia boss reiterated: "The situation is very clear. Steven Gerrard is not for sale." Real are desperate to pep up their squad after another disappointing season but Benitez's claim means the Madridistas will have to look elsewhere for high-profile reinforcements. Gerrard is expected to make a return from a minor hamstring strain in The Reds' FA Cup semi-final with The Blues at Old Trafford on Saturday.
