1. David Roberts (GK)
Wirral born Goalkeeper David Roberts will be back-up reserve team goalkeeper
to David Martin. Roberts was one of the heroes of the FA Youth Cup win in
2006, especially in the semi-final. He emulated Jerzy Dudek's Istanbul
heroics by saving two penalties in an heroic 5-4 shoot-out win over
Southampton at St Mary's.
2. Robbie Threlfall (LB)
Local lad Robbie Threlfall is a left back who was an integral part of the
Liverpool team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2006, and scored one of the goals
in the final against Manchester City. He also scored a vital equaliser in the
semi-final win over Southampton. Threlfall was then given an early chance to
play for the first team when he appeared as a substitute against Wrexham in a
pre-season friendly on Saturday. Robbie is an intelligent footballer who
hails from the Woolton area of Liverpool. A good passer of the ball he reads
the game well.
3. Stephen Darby (RB)
Stephen Darby captained Liverpool to victory in the 2006 FA Youth Cup and led
by example with some fine performances. He has great spirit and determination
and is an attacking right back.
4. Craig Lindfield(ST)
Wirral born Craig Lindfield was one of the heroes of the Liverpool FA Youth
Cup winning squad of 2006 when he scored seven goals during the run.
Lindfield has pace and certainly knows where the goal is.
5. Ryan Flynn (CM)
Scotland born Flynn joined the Academy from Falkirk and is a cultured
midfielder with good passing ability and can also score goals. Flynn played
an integral part in the 2006 FA Youth Cup success and scored in the final
against Manchester City.
