Former Liverpool Scout Passes Away Harry Hodges, who was in charge of talent scouting in the Bootle area for around three decades at Liverpool Football Club has passed away, aged 80 years old. Hodges, who is the man credited with discovering Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, Carragher himself was the first to pay tribute to the legend yesterday: "If it wasn't for Harry, who knows what I'd be doing now," said Carragher. "I'll never forget what Harry did for me, and I'd like to express my sympathy to his family." Harry himself was immensely proud after Carragher's achievements. Speaking before the Champions League Final in 2005, he said "As a scout, you sometimes get close to finding a top class player, but for one reason or another, they don't make it. I call that 'hitting the bar'. In Jamie's case, I feel I put one in the top corner."
