Former Spain and Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes has announced his
retirement from football.
The 34-year-old, who spent last season at French champions Marseille, has
decided to quit because he wants to have more free time with his family.
Morientes will now move into a job in Spanish television, where he will
commentate on Europa League matches and Euro 2012 qualifiers.
He told radio station Cope in an interview reported in Tuesday's edition of
Spanish newspaper Marca: "After 17 years of top-level football... I want to
spend more time with my family."
Morientes became a star at Real Madrid,where he won three UEFA Champions
Leaguetitles (1998, 2000 and 2002) and two La Ligatitles (2001 and 2003).
He joined Liverpool in 2005, but his time at Anfield proved to be
disappointing and a 2006 move to Valencia followed before he switched to
Marseille.
Morientes also scored 27 goals in 47 games for Spain between 1998 and 2007.

前西班牙國腳莫倫特斯在今天正式宣佈退役，他將加入西班牙電臺成為一名顧問。這位西
班牙傳奇前鋒曾效力皇馬和利物浦等歐洲豪門。
莫倫特斯宣佈退役
“在經歷了17年的職業足球生涯後，我決定退役……我希望在未來用更多的時間來陪伴家
人。”莫倫特斯在接受西班牙電臺的採訪時宣佈了自己退役的消息。
莫倫特斯成名于皇馬，在1997年到2003年，莫倫特斯跟勞爾在伯納烏組成黃金搭檔，他幫
助皇馬在1998年、2000年和2002年3次贏得歐冠，在2001年和2003年2次贏得西甲。不過隨
著皇馬引進了包括大羅在內的越來越多頂級球星，莫倫特斯在伯納烏失去了主力位置，在
2003年，他以租借的方式離開了皇馬。
2003年夏天，莫倫特斯租借加盟摩納哥，在這個皇馬被放逐的賽季他就幫助摩納哥闖進歐
冠決賽，可惜摩納哥最終輸給了穆裏尼奧領軍的波爾圖，不過莫倫特斯在這個賽季成為歐
冠最佳射手。在2004年夏天，莫倫特斯回到了皇馬，但由於歐文的加盟，莫倫特斯只能繼
續擔任替補。
在2005年1月，莫倫特斯加盟利物浦，在安菲爾德，莫倫特斯上陣61次打進12球，由於表
現不佳，莫倫特斯未能入選西班牙的2006世界盃名單，在德國世界盃後，他遭到紅軍拋棄
，莫倫特斯加盟了瓦倫西亞重返西甲。
在回到祖國西班牙後，莫倫特斯迎來了職業生涯第二春，他和比利亞組成了西甲最強大之
一的鋒線，在2009年今夏，莫倫特斯因為年齡的關係被瓦倫西亞放棄，他加盟了馬賽。他
與馬賽的合同在今夏已經到期，雖然有來自卡塔爾、迪拜以及葡萄牙的里斯本競技等球隊
向他發出邀請，但莫倫特斯最終選擇了退役結束自己的職業生涯。
