José Reina Paez 6.0
Stayed alert to keep out Yakubu's 28th minute drive but could not do
anything about two unstoppable strikes high into his net. The least of
Liverpool's problems.
Jamie Carragher 6.0
An afternoon that would have hurt the Liverpool vice-captain, who was an
Everton supporter as a boy. Forced to play at right-back because of Glen
Johnson's hamstring injury, produced a decent enough defensive performance
but looked uncomfortable going forward.
Sotiris Kyrgiakos 6.0
Dealt well in the air with Everton crosses in the first-half but struggle to
handle Yakubu's power and aggression throughout the game. Poor header out
fell to Arteta for Everton's second goal.
Martin Skrtel 6.0
A decent defensive display from the Slovakian who was often the spare man as
Kyrgiakos went man-to-man with Yakubu, Everton's lone striker. Had to keep an
eye on Cahill's runs from deep and produced a generally aware performance.
Paul Konchesky 5.0
Struggled to handle Coleman's direct dribbling and it was little surprise
that Cahill's goal came from Liverpool's left side as Konchesky did not stop
the run or block the cross.
Maxi Rodríguez 5.0
An almost anonymous first 45 minutes in which his only action of note was a
lunge on Baines which resulted in a booking. Fierce drive from 25 yards ust
after the break could have changed his afternoon. Replaced by Jovanovic in
the 84th minute.
Lucas 5.5
When you need someone to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make
something happen, there are few players you would want less than the
Brazilian. Not a bd performance by any stretch, but was slow to deliver
passes which usually went sideways or backwards.
Replaced by Ngog in the 71st minute as the visitors went looking for goals.
Raúl Meireles 6.0
A tidy performance from the ￡11.5 million summer signing from Porto
but another who could not use is creativity to test the hosts' goal.
Playing in a deeper role than in previous outings, the Portugal
international was not able to pull the Everton players out of position
to create chances for his team-mates.
Joe Cole 5.5
Looked short of confidence on the left as he constantly took the easy
option with infield passes. At his best, the former Chelsea man runs at
the defences and uses his skill to create chances for his team-mates.
Produced a dangerous cross in the first-half from which Torres could
have scored. Replaced by Babel nine minutes from time.
Steven Gerrard 6.5
Aside from a ten minute spell before the end of the first-half,
the Liverpool captain had a subdued afternoon. Forced to come deep to
get hold of the ball, Gerrard found himself too far from goal to unleash
any trademark shots on goal. A near-perfect cross eight minutes from time
reminded the Toffees of his ability to change a game in an instant.
Fernando Torres Flop of the Match 4.5
Deary me. Is there anything left to say about Fernando Torres this season.
On this evidence, any Liverpool fans who thought the resolution of the
ownership saga would be the catalyst for a change in the Spaniard's
attitude were way off the mark. He looked completely disinterested, and
when he was involved in the action usually conspired to lose possession.
Had little service but equally showed no movement or effort aside from a
tame late effort. A big problem.

Ryan Babel 6.0
Replaced Cole 11 minutes from time but hardly touched the ball.
Milan Jovanovic N/A
Replaced Maxi Rodriguez six minutes from time, not enough to have any impact.
David Ngog 6.0
Looked sharp after replacing Lucas in 71st minute but had no sights on goal.
