其實到了 2014 年球季結束之後，Mauer 本來就會取得 10-5 資格，
（年資滿 10 年，最近連續 5 年待在同一隻球隊）
自動獲得 no-trade clause 的權利。

這筆合約和洋基與 Teixeira 簽的合約大約相同，
以守備位置來說，蹲捕對身體的損害以及風險當然比較大，
不過憑 Mauer 的打擊能力，將來即使轉任其他守位，應該也還滿有價值。
對於恰逢新球場開幕的雙城隊而言，Mauer 是非簽下來不可的，
要不然 Target Field 大概會被球迷給炸掉，
因此協議的過程中，bargaining power 應該是傾向 Mauer 這一邊，
所以雙城隊大概沒有討到什麼便宜，例如所謂的 hometown discount。
接下來就是祈禱 Mauer 能盡量持盈保泰啦！
