[外電] Oswalt back with Phillies, but might be DL-bound

Roy Oswalt returned to the Phillies Thursday after a leave of absence to tend

to his family in tornado-ravaged Mississippi. He threw a bullpen session to try

and work back into shape and initially said it went well. Friday, however,

CSNPhilly.com is reporting that Oswalt's back is sore and he appears headed to

the disabled list. Kyle Kendrick will start Saturday as the Phillies shuffle

things around.


Oswalt did leave a start earlier in the season with a back injury, but made his

next start on time and appeared to be fully healthy. He was completely

uneffective in his last start -- a three-inning, five-run outing on April 26 --

but it seemed like that was due to being distracted about his family's safety.



He hadn't thrown or worked out at all while being gone for over a week, so it's

possible the back tightened up and wasn't in good enough shape to get back on

the mound. This isn't anything new on Oswalt's career, as he's had several back

issues over the years. Still, he's been durable enough to make at least 30

starts the past seven years.
