Matsuzaka throws 1st bullpen session since injury
牛肉開始進牛棚~~
FORT MYERS, Florida (Kyodo) -- Boston Red Sox right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka
on Monday threw his first bullpen session since undergoing season-ending
elbow surgery last June.
In the team's spring training complex in Florida, Matsuzaka threw his first
11 pitches with the catcher standing in front of home plate and 10 more
pitches after the catcher crouched.
"Today is like a warm-up," Matsuzaka said. "I think I'll throw harder next
week."
The former 18-game winner is scheduled to long toss on Wednesday and throw in
the bullpen again on Friday, if he has no problems Tuesday.
Matsuzaka underwent Tommy John ligament-transplant surgery at a Los Angeles
hospital in June after going 3-3 with a 5.30 ERA in eight appearances early
in the 2011 season.
The 31-year-old is expected to return to the major league mounds late in the
2012 season, the last of his six-year contract with the Red Sox.
