Chamberlain told The Associated Press he was "happy with the progress and feeling good" after throwing off the five-inch mound. Chamberlain is conservatively expected to rejoin the Yankees before the All-Star break, though he is unlikely to be on the club's Opening Day roster. The AP also reported that shortstop Derek Jeter is set to hit on the practice field for the first time on Monday. The captain said that he is looking to "pick up where we left off last year," when his batting average increased from .260 to .297 after he returning from a strained right calf on July 4. Right-handers Phil Hughes, Ivan Nova and Cory Wade also threw off bullpen mounds on Friday. Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report for Spring Training on Feb. 19. Meanwhile, with position players not due in camp until Feb. 25, another notable Yankees player spent a brief portion of his week bouncing from coast to coast. Second baseman Robinson Cano flew to Los Angeles to tape a segment on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" that aired Thursday, in which Cano was defeated by actor and noted Yankees fan Denzel Washington in an 11-question baseball-trivia competition. http://0rz.tw/qHVZa --
