Ball Josh Hamilton dropped in game 162 last year auctioned off for $1,280
I wonder who bought it. If it was a fan from California the Rangers beat
writers would have to question where the scoreboard stands on whose fans are
the best, seeing as though they are obsessed with that these days.
As for that ball: I guess you can look at it one of two ways. The game was
tied 5-5 when Hamilton dropped it, giving the A’s a 7-5 lead, so perhaps it
is symbolic and meaningful. At the same time, the A’s scored five more runs
after that, so it’s not like Hamilton’s error was decisive either. It was
part of a total team failure, really. Even if Hamilton is the one that gets
all the grief for it.

The #Athletics ended up selling the ball that Josh Hamilton dropped in Game
162 for $1,280. Part of the proceeds went to charity.
