Cubs may ponder Wrigley exit

CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts said Wednesday that without new
signage in the outfield at Wrigley Field the team will consider leaving the
historic ballpark.

小熊隊主席Tom Ricketts表示如果Wrigley Field的外野不能裝新看板的話，球隊會考慮
搬出Wrigley Field。

It's believed to be the first time Ricketts has publicly floated the idea of
leaving Wrigley, although he maintained throughout his speech at the City
Club of Chicago that his preference is to remain at Wrigley and improve the
park with a $500 million renovation.

這應該是Ricketts首次公開說不排除離開Wrigley Field。Ricketts還是表示他希望能留
在Wrigley Field，同時能用$500M來翻修球場。

"I'm not sure how anyone is going to stop the signs in the outfield, but if
it comes to the point that we don't have the ability to do what we need to do
in our outfield then we're going to have to consider moving," Ricketts told
reporters, according to the Chicago Tribune. "It's as simple as that."

「如果最終演變成無法讓我們進行外野必需的翻修，我們會考慮離開，就這麼簡單。」

Ricketts said the team needs to install a 6,000 square foot video board at
Wrigley because it would bring in much needed revenue.

計畫是裝設6000平方呎的電子看板─因為這樣能增加收入。

Ricketts said the Cubs could be making $20 million a year more in ad revenue.
He said the video board proposed for the left field is "midsize" compared to
those displayed at other major league ball parks.

Ricketts認為小熊每年的收入會增加$20M，而且他要的只是「中型」的看板，比一些球隊
還小。

Nearby rooftop owners, who charge fans for access to watch Cubs games, worry
such a board would block their views and have vowed legal action if that
happens. In 2004, the team and the rooftop owners entered into a 20-year deal
in which the Cubs allow access to views of Wrigley in exchange for 17 percent
of rooftop revenues. Ricketts says studies indicate the views would only be
blocked minimally, if at all.

不過Wrigley Field旁邊的屋主不爽了(就是緊臨球場的那些屋頂)，擔心看板會影響視線
─如果球團執意要弄看板，他們會採取法律行動。2004年球團和屋主簽訂20年合約，支付
17%的收入即可進入觀看。Ricketts表示就算擋到也只會擋到一點點。

Ricketts said the team will file its proposal with the city on Wednesday.

球團會在週三向市政府提出要求。
