Giambi would like to make it to 20 seasons before he calls it quits.

Cleveland Indians designated hitter Jason Giambi says that he would like to
play one more season, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Next year would be
Giambi's 20th season.

In his first year with the Indians, Giambi saw time in 71 games and hit
.183/.282/.371 with nine home runs. He started 54 games at designated hitter,
but did not spend a single inning in the field defensively. If he can no
longer trot out to first base on defense, his options are limited to American
League teams where he can act as a part-time designated hitter.

Giambi had been with the Rockies for three and a half years prior to signing
with the Indians. He played sparingly at first base, but it was also clear
his bat was declining even then. In his final year in Colorado, Giambi hit
for just a 675 OPS, a far cry from his MVP days.

Giambi is now 42 years old and has not played in 100 games since 2009. The
Indians may be interested in him returning or another team could be intrigued
by the veteran presence he would bring, but Giambi may have to settle for a
minor league contract to fight for a spot in spring training. The Indians
paid him $750,000 for his services in 2013.
