It appears that Ruben Amaro Jr. is making a move to shore up the back of the
rotation.

A source confirmed to CSNPhilly.com Saturday that left-handed pitcher Wandy
Rodriguez has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Phillies, pending a
physical.

The 36-year-old hurler hasn't shown an ability to stay healthy over the past
couple of seasons. In 2013 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Rodriguez pitched in
just 12 games because of a lingering forearm injury. He went 6-4 with a 3.58
ERA and 46 strikeouts over 62 2/3 innings.

Rodriguez started in just six games for the Pirates in 2014 and posted a 6.75
ERA and 1.70 WHIP. A knee injury put him on the shelf in mid-June and he
missed the rest of the season.

Rodriguez's most successful campaign came in 2009 with the Houston Astros,
when he pitched 205 2/3 innings, won 14 games and posted a 3.02 ERA.

Over his 10-year career, Rodriguez is 91-94 with a 4.06 ERA and 1.33 WHIP.

If healthy, Rodriguez will likely compete for a spot at the back of the
rotation.
