MLB 09 THE SHOW


9.0     Presentation
    Whether it’s the camera angles that highlight a park,
    the presentation of the passage of time during a game
    or the inclusion of lifelike mascots, The Show presents
    a wonderful park experience

9.0     Graphics
    Lots of new animations and cutscenes as well as character
    models and parks make this a large improvement over last year.
    However, old problems still dull the shine of the visuals.

9.0     Sound
    Custom music and chants are truly great, especially if you
    want to create your own razzing of opposing players and teams
    before your star player walks to the plate with your personal
    theme song.

8.5     Gameplay
    While the updating of some fielding controls makes the game a
    bit more realistic, it also reveals a number of problems,
    some of which have yet to be solved from two years ago.

8.5     Lasting Appeal
    Road to the Show and Franchise mode are great and made quite
    a bit deeper. Stat tracking issues and laggy online play still
    keep this game held back, however.

7.5     Presentation
    Good broadcast-style presentation, but some of the stats overlays
    are incorrect.

7.5     Graphics
    The parks look good and the player models aren't bad, but the animations
    aren't as varied or fluid as they could be. Player faces are ugly.

8.0     Sound
    Hats off to the new broadcasting duo of Thorne and Phillips, but
    inaccurate commentary hurts and individualized crowd sounds would
    have been a nice touch.

6.5     Gameplay
    The fundamentals are stronger than last year, but the AI has numerous
    issues and there are too many bugs in gameplay and in the franchise mode.

7.5     Lasting Appeal
    There's plenty to do and some nice online features, but stumble onto
    the wrong bug and your franchise is pretty much ruined.
