Herman next faced Jiu-Jitsu expert Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira on October 13,
2012 at UFC 153.[17] Before the fight, Herman had said repeatedly that
Jiu-Jitsu does not work against him. He had never been submitted in 25 career
fights prior to UFC 153. Herman was submitted by Nogueira via armbar in the
second round. The armbar is one of the most basic techniques used in
Jiu-Jitsu.
