Friday 5 September 2003 'TIME IS RUNNING OUT' If there's a more intelligent rock band around, we haven't heard them Forget the fact that Matt Bellamy seems unhealthily obsessed with cementing his legacy as a latter day prog king. Just concentrate on the latest example of Muse's burgeoning class. Because whatever his ultimate aim turns out to be, Muse always counterbalance the excessive (indulgent lengthy album wig-outs) with the sublimely simple (three-minute 'pop' hits). 'Origins Of Symmetry' had 'Plug In Baby' and 'New Born' and now they've gone one better with their new LP, grandly titled 'Absolution'. Propped up by a snaking fuzzy bass, Westside Story clicking fingers and some off-kilter drumming, 'Time Is Running Out' is about nothing in particular but screams sinister sophistication and wily pop nous. Stop the clock, it's addictive stuff. 九分。 Chris Heath -- 啊,吾的焦躁表現得那麼明顯嗎? -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.70.206.23
