Brendan Ryan goes on DL with sprained shoulder

ARLINGTON, Texas — This wasn't the way Luis Rodriguez expected to make his
return to the big leagues.

Rodriguez was scheduled to appear for Class AAA Tacoma in a game in Round
Rock, Texas, on Monday, but was recalled by the Mariners in the afternoon
when Brendan Ryan was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Ryan stayed behind in Anaheim, Calif., on Monday, where an examination of the
left shoulder he injured in an on-field collision with Adam Kennedy last week
found it to have a sprained AC joint. The Mariners placed Ryan on the DL —
 retroactive to Aug. 4 — and recalled Rodriguez, who had to hop in a car for
the 3 ½ -hour drive here.

Rodriguez arrived just after the start of the game and could be seen shaking
hands and greeting teammates in the dugout.

Mariners manager Eric Wedge said pregame of Ryan's shoulder: "We were afraid
that something might have been torn in there."

Wedge said he hoped Ryan would be ready to go in the next 10 days to two
weeks and could come off the DL when eligible. Jack Wilson got the start at
shortstop again Monday and had a pair of doubles along with a throwing error
on an infield single.

會合，Smoak說他好多了，已經在左打區做揮擊練習，明天他希望也能在右打區
做一樣的事。另外在沒擴編的情況下，禮拜天對猴子我們先發排了5個小朋友，
這是今年第3次lineup上排了5個小朋友。
