The Marlins won’t make a lot of callups. Willingham will actually be
activated from the disabled list, not called up. He and Dillon will be used as
pinch-hitters. … Hermida is the most interesting player here. One of the
game’s top prospects, the 21-year-old has hit .293/.457/.518 with 23 steals
in 25 attempts for Double-A Carolina. Unfortunately, he probably won’t get
a lot of time, especially with Jeff Conine playing well of late. Still, the
Marlins might add him on Aug. 31 just to make him eligible for the playoff
roster. I doubt he’ll have much if any value in NL-only leagues.
… LHP Scott Olsen isn’t listed. He has been shut down for the season with
an elbow injury.
