標題[外電] Dallas Mavericks' Wright isn't taking spot for granted

Antoine Wright has made this mistake once.
It's not going to happen again. Although he's started a dozen games in a row
at shooting guard, he takes nothing for granted, meaning he refuses to say
the job is his.
"I'm never going to say that again," Wright said. "Don't worry about me
getting comfortable with anything here."
Wright has been in, out, in, out and finally back in again as the Mavericks'
starter in the backcourt alongside Jason Kidd. His play in the last 12 games
has given coach Rick Carlisle no reason to abandon the lineup.
Wright has averaged 7.8 points in just over 24 minutes per start in that
stretch.
"He's done the things we need him to do," Carlisle said. "He brings us some
solid defense. Offensively, he can do some playmaking from the position. He
continues to shoot the ball better.
"This is sort of what we had projected. Earlier, it didn't quite go like it
has. He's done well."
Wright has battled back this season from a strained left groin injury and
even stayed in the lineup through the four-game losing streak earlier this
month. It seems the coaches have settled on him as the starter until Wright
gives them a reason for a change. So far, he hasn't.
Wright's only concern is the team's habit of having lengthy letdowns in some
games.
"We can't have those. The last game," he said, referring to Wednesday's win
against Golden State, "we did a good job of not giving them any momentum. I
take that personally on the defensive end."
No starry night for Jet: Dirk Nowitzki making the Western Conference All-Star
team as a reserve wasn't a shock when the backups were announced Thursday
evening.
But the Mavericks held out hope that Jason Terry would find a spot among the
reserve guards. As it turned out, there were just too many other contenders.
"I still have other goals in mind – the sixth man of the year," Terry said.
"So I'm going to keep my play high.
"I'll be in Phoenix either way, so it doesn't matter. It's like a second home
to me."
Terry went to college at Arizona.
Nowitzki, meanwhile, will be making his eighth consecutive trip to the
All-Star Game.
"It's always an honor to be selected," Nowitzki said. "It's an unbelievable
experience, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to represent the Mavericks
in Phoenix."
Nowitzki is averaging team highs of 25.7 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Line of the day: Terry was giving a State of the Mavericks address to some
media members Thursday and trotted out the best description of the Mavericks
to date:
"We don't want to peak too early, which, obviously, we haven't done."
